Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: S1 – Ep 9: ‘Battle of the Humungonauts’ (2010) – #TV #Episode #Review

A show that takes some time to begin to enjoy! 

Ok, so I have to say that the first season of TV shows, for whatever reason seem to some times be pretty bad... An examples of this (albeit not a great one,) is, 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer'.

You see, Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 1 was a great season, but almost every season after that, (til season 6,) was so much better! The reason being is that they were trying to find their way... (And they did a great job with this!)

Now the reason that I mention this is because one of the TV shows that I am beginning to realize had the same problem the Buffy season 1 had is, 'Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated'... And season 1, episode 9: 'Battle Of the Humungonauts' (2010) was a great example of this!

This is just one of the monsters that the Scooby gang is going after!

Well it looks like the paranormal is back in Crystal Cove again, this time in the form of some sort of Alien!

That's right, you see, at a concert a giant alien gorilla looking thing appears at the concert and just absolutely destroys things!

A party crasher,,,

This time though it might be more then the Mystery Incorporated team can handle!

What I mean by this is that there appears to be another one of these super alien monsters that is terrorizing the small town! But is it really an Alien? Or is it something more? With Mr. E helping the team, one can never know!

Now of course the idiotic desire of the town's leaders to have these creatures runs rampant in the city is still there... But it wasn't as bad... The truth is, is the best thing about this particular episode is it did a great job in finally bringing Scooby and the gang back to the greatness they had in the past!

So if you haven't seen this episode yet, then check it out, you might be glad you did!

Quicksilver... The Weird Movie Situation - #Marvel #Comics #Movies

Quicksilver in both the Marvel and Fox worlds... Yeah I know... 

 Ok, so I have to say that when I was a kid, one of my favorite characters in the comics was Quicksilver... Well I am gonna say that he was probably in my top 5, I mean that guy can really run! 

With that said, through out the years, I have found that I have enjoyed every iterations of him both in written form as well as in TV form, but when it came to the movie form for this character, Marvel and Fox did something that just pissed me off! 

Now hey, I get it, when it comes to the seeming feud between Marvel and Fox, they do seem to be acting like a bunch of toddlers when one takes their, 'binki' away... I mean it is not like instead of this ridiculous feud they have going on, they could just work together! I mean it's cool, you guys want to destroy iconic franchises like, 'Fantasic Four' for your idiotic feud, I get it... But the whole Quicksilver thing... I mean come on, really?  

This feud between Marvel & Fox... yeah I know... They are going to destroy some amazing franchises if they keep up with it!

Now what I mean by this is the fact Quicksilver appears in both Fox's MCU, and Marvel's MCU, both as different actors, etc... Way to destroy a character guys! 

What I mean by this is that in X-Men: Days Of Future Past (2014) Quicksilver is played by: Evan Peters (The Lazarus Effect), and in Avengers: Age Of Ultron (2015) Quicksilver is played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Godzilla), both apparently having appeared in the same movie, Kick-Ass (2010) and Marvel ends up killing Taylor-Johnson's version of the character! 

All I am saying is that if these two production companies could kiss and make up, they could make a mutual MCU that would literally be epic!

Scout Taylor-Compton & Rooney Mara: Two Great Scream Queens That Admirably Filled Some Big Shoes!

Jamie Lee Curtis & Heather Langenkamp are tough acts to follow, but Scout Taylor Compton & Rooney Mara definitely did a great job filling those shoes they left behind! 

For those of you who haven't seen the movies for which I am talking about, I am talking about the remakes to, Halloween (1978) and, A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984)... And for those of you who have seen these movies... As for Rooney Mara and her role in, A Nightmare On Elm Street... I will get in to that in a minute... 

Now before I go on, let me say this, Jamie Lee Curtis (The Fog) & Heather Langenkamp (Shocker) are two actresses that did totally amazing jobs in the roles that they played... I mean Heather Langenkamp's girl next door who ends having to fight against an entity that only appears to exist in dreams... And Jamie Lee Curtis's role from regular high school student to having to fight against a brutal and sadistic killer who has targeted her and is killing off her friends is sheer brilliance, (Jamie Lee Curtis played, 'Laurie Strode' in the original, 'Halloween' and Heather Langenkamp played, 'Nancy Thompson' in the original, 'A Nightmare On Elm Street'...)

Jamie Lee Curtis as, 'Laurie Strode' in one of the most famous scene in horror movie history! 

 With that said though, I will say this, Scout Taylor-Compton (who plays, 'Laurie Strode' in Rob Zombie's Halloween remake series,) delivered a truly inspiring job taking over the role... 

Now Taylor-Compton's, 'Laurie Strode' is different from Jamie Lee Curtis's, 'Laurie Strode' in a lot of ways (a great example is, Scout Taylor-Compton's more, 'sarcastic' Laurie Strode as opposed to Jamie Lee Curtis's more, 'girl next door' type of Laurie Strode... Both are good,  but one of the reasons that Scout Taylor-Compton's Laurie Strode is so good is the differences between the two...) 

She may not be, 'The Girl Next Door', but this Laurie Strode definitely has some chops!

Another reason why she did so good taking over the role, is the fact that she really made the role her own, and her progression from sarcastic teenage girl, to traumatized teen (as seen in part 2), is just sheer brilliance... And a little scary, due to the fact that you could almost see that as how she would descend in to total madness if Ms. Taylor-Compton was really going through it! 

And now on to Rooney Mara... Before I continue... A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) was not a great movie... But Rooney Mara for me was one of those few shining lights in the movie that really helped make sure that the movie did not totally suck! 

And what I mean by this is the fact that Rooney Mara (who took over the role of: 'Nancy' from Heather Langenkamp,) really did this role justice, by really only emulating Ms. Langenkamp's strength that she gave, 'Nancy' in the original movie... 

Rooney Mara in a modern version of one of the most famous scenes in, 'A Nightmare On Elm Street'! 

Other then that... She really made the role her own, and really just brought this character to life in a new and different, and exciting way!

Friday Night Double Feature: A Nightmare On Elm Street/A Nightmare On Elm Street

If you are a horror fan, then you mostly likely have seen both the remake and the original version of horror movies, and if you are like me, then most of the time you will see why as a remake of the movie just doesn't quite hold up to it's legendary predecessor...

Well if you are also like me, then some times you like to watch the original and the remake back-to-back, and then afterward compare both in your mind, as both a remake to the original, and if you are lucky enough to find a lesser objectionable remake, to see how that movie could actually be good as it's own original movie!

So I thought that I would do for this week's double feature: A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) and, A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010)!

It's A Krueger double feature!

Friday The 13th Maybe Delayed But At least There Will Be One

It looks like Friday The 13th maybe delayed a bit... But at least we'll get a chance to see him hack up a whole new set of campers!

That'r right folks, as it turns out, according to: Bloody-Disgusting, that the producers over at Platinum Dunes, 'Brad Fuller' & 'Andrew Form' may have pushed the due date for the movie up again from it's planned November release date to May 13th 2016... Is that a bad thing? I mean how cool is it that we are getting the 13th movie in the franchise on Friday the 13th?

Now this movie maybe running through some troubles, but be patient fright fans, because lets be honest... In the world of the master horror icons, lets recap recent times... We got the barely seen, (Doug Bradley-less), Hellraiser: Revelations (2011), A Child's Play movie that seems to have had almost no promotion upon release... Michael Myers... He seems to have been out of the lime light for a little over half a decade... And after the bust of, A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010)... It looks like the next Friday The 13th is going to be a little delayed... But Jason is coming in to save the day!

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Season 1 – Episode 8: ‘The Grasp OfThe Gnome’ (2010) – TV Episode Review

You know, I have to admit that so far I have some pretty mixed feelings about: 'Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated'... I mean so far it does have some truly fun episodes... But like the first bunch of episodes that started out this season were really bad... But then the last episode was a total blast!

And now this next episode, 'The Grasp Of The Gnome'... Meh? Not great... But not the worst...

The Scooby Gang trying to find, 'Shaggy' in the latest episode of, 'Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated'!

Written by: Mitch Watson (Totally Spies), John P. McCann (Animaniacs) & Directed by: Victor Cook (21 Grams). Starring:  Starring: Frank Welker (The Real Ghostbusters), Mindy Cohn (Sex And Death 101), Grey DeLisle (Ultimate Avengers), Matthew Lillard (The Bridge), Patrick Warburton (Ted) & Gary Cole (The Town That Dreaded Sundown).

This story tells the tale of how while the gang is at a local medieval carnival, one of the carnivals patrons ends up getting attacked by a little, 'garden gnome' looking creature, and is paralyzed completely by this... Well of course it looks like a case for the, 'Scooby Gang' to find out who this paralyzing gnome is and stop him... And this time it's personal!

It looks like Shaggy & Scooby have fallen out of the case!

You see, the Gnome has taken Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) hostage, and it will be up to the Scooby Gang to rescue him before something dastardly happens!

Now the main reason why this episode is kind of bland... Well the basic story and what not is good, but the truth is, is the useless none-sense (like the, 'Mayor' and the 'Sheriff' hoping the bad guys will continue to commit crimes to profit the town,) is all back in it's dull ridiculous pattern...

In the end, if you are following the series, you should check this one out... It is not a bad episode, but there is not much point in watching this episode otherwise!

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Season 1 - Episode 7: 'In Fear Of ThePhantom' (2010) - TV Episode Review

I know that it has been awhile for a review for an episode of, 'Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated'... The truth is, is that most of the episodes that have come up till recently have kind of really sucked!

I mean the criss-cross between the 60s and the modern times was just plain weird... Fred's creepy obsession with traps, and his desire to be more a part of the, 'guys' as opposed to being with Daphne was odd (I know it is a kid's show, but it does touch upon, 'dating' and, 'love' and the like... And the last thing that has sort of been killing the show is the fact that all the officials in the town seemed to prefer to have the criminals running around committing crimes as opposed to being imprisoned (so that they can meet their bottom line!)

The fact that they got rid of most of this is just part of the reason why season 1 - episode 7: 'In Fear Of The Phantom' was such a surprise!

Daphne (Grey DeLisle) will go undercover as a singer for a famous rock band in this episode of, 'Scooby-Do! Mystery Incorporated.'

Starring: Frank Welker (The Real Ghostbusters), Mindy Cohn (Sex And Death 101), Grey DeLisle (Ultimate Avengers), Matthew Lillard (The Bridge), Fred Tatasciore (Iron Man And Captain America: Heroes United), Patrick Warburton (Ted) & Gary Cole (The Town That Dreaded Sundown).

"Listen, Hex Girls, carefully. You are bound for misery! This will be your final show. Or you will suffer endless woe! So saith the Phantom."

This episode tells the story of the, 'Hex Girls', an all-girl heavy metal band that is real popular with teens (including the Scooby gang)... But when the Scooby Gang manage to get tickets, the show turns disastrous, when a party crasher decides to crash the party and destroy the fun for everyone!

This guys devotion to this band is killer! 

You see, his name is, 'The Phantom', and if the Scooby Gang can't stop him, then he might get his wish of, 't

aking out' the band for good!

In the end, like I said, most of what I mentioned above was gone... As a matter of fact, the only really annoying part to this episode is the Mayor and the Sheriff... But other then that, this episode was so good, I would have to say that even the music in this episode was a lot of fun!

So check it out... This is an episode that may take you by surprise, in a good way!

A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010) - Movie Review

Besides the Aliens franchise, one of the earliest horror movies that I can ever remember watching is, A Nightmare On Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (1987)…

I remember at the time that this movie which had a young Patricia Arquette (True Romance) in it, both scared the hell out of me, and also entertained me as well, part of the reason for this obviously was Freddy Krueger (whom at that time was still being played by Robert Englund).

Now at this time Freddy Kruger was really coming in to his own as a trickster who stalked his upcoming victims in their dreams before he killed them! I also found that I liked the dynamic (and the differences) of the team that would work to defeat Freddy as well (including, a jerk, a geek, a loner strong man, a tough girl, a true believer, and the sceptic… to name a few).

Unfortunately this dynamic would begin to fade in the, ‘Nightmare On Elm Street’ series as the sequels went on, but at this time it was still strong, and in some cases this particular film would help to create an interest in the series as a whole, and is part and parcel the reason why I was glad to see the remake to the classic original series recently!

As a stand alone it is pretty good, as a remake... meh...

Written by: Wesley Strick (Cape Fear), Eric Heisserer (The Thing) and Directed by: Samuel Bayer (Green Day: Bullet In A Bible). Starring: Rooney Mara (The Social Network), Jackie Earle Haley (Watchmen), Kyle Gallner (Red State), Katie Cassidy (Kill For Me), Thomas Dekker (The Good Lie) and Clancy Brown (Starship Troopers).

This movie is a re-imagining of the story that we have all grown up to enjoy and get frightened at, you see, a whole bunch of teenagers who become friends at their local High School, start one by one getting terrorized in their dreams by a hideous man in a striped sweater and hat, who is also wearing a glove, that calls himself, ‘Freddy’ (Jackie Early Haley)…

And as these friends start to die off one by one, it will be up to these kids to discover what is going on, and in the process discover a secret that binds these kids together before they thought they had ever met!

Freddy Krueger is about to destroy his first set of kids!

Now all in all, in reviews that I have read and people that I have talked to who have seen this movie, all and all, one for one, each one of them have had very negative comments to make about this movie… And I have to admit that I think that characterization of this movie is kind of fair, but mostly biased…

The truth is, is that this movie is not a horrible movie as a stand alone film… (what I mean by stand alone film, is that if this movie was not a remake, it would not have been that bad.) Of course in the end though, this movie is very paint by numbers and does not have all that much originality to it… Which as a stand alone is kind of bland, but as long as it is a good paint by numbers (like this one is), it is palatable… But as a remake of a classic horror franchise, just straight up sucks!

In the end, this movie is not a horrible, but it could have been better, and if you are looking to watch this movie for the sake of watching it and not expecting some huge fanfare… Then you might enjoy it, otherwise I would not recommend checking this one out.

Top Five Killer Disturbed Songs

You know I will be honest and say that I have only gotten in to the music of, 'Disturbed' recently... The truth is though, is that this band that has been around since the 90s and is pretty bad ass!

The reason that I say this is the fact that there sound is truly spectacular, I mean they seem anyway to me to take the best part of a lot of heavy metal bands of the 90s, including: Metallica & Marilyn Manson as well as Nine Inch Nails, and turn that in to a sound that is all there own!

So for those of you guys who are fans, I thought you guys would enjoy this, and for those of you haven't heard them yet... Well I thought that you guys would enjoy the 5 songs that I would consider to be the top 5 best songs they have ever made! So enjoy!

At number 5: Indestructible (2008), from the album with the same title.

For  number 4:  Asylum (2010), from the album with the same title.

The next one on the block at number 3: The Night (2009), from the album, 'Indestructible'.

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Season 1 - Episode 6: 'The Legend Of Alice May' (2010) TV Episode Review

Scooby-Doo... What can I say about the show? I mean to be absolutely honest with you, I used to watch this show pretty religiously back in the late 80s when it used to be apart of the Saturday morning cartoon lineup... Since then I have always been a fan of the series, and I maybe always will be!

With that said, I have to admit that from time to time I am guilty of some times judging a book by it's cover... I try not to do this, it is a bad habit... I mean some times you do end up loosing out on some of life's great points...

The reason that I mention all of this is the fact that I have done that very thing recently with the latest  reincarnation of the classic Scooby-Doo cartoon series called: 'Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated'... What I mean is that I have been going through the series, and one right after the other I have found that the series had just gotten progressively worse and worse (we had a small reprieve with episode 5, but still...)

Recently though I tuned in to watch the next episode in the series, and I have to say that Episode 6: 'The Legend Of Alice  May' (2010) was just great!

I mean don't get me wrong, this episode does have scary elements to it, but it is that toned down horror that makes it acceptable for children to watch, but still it was a truly fun episode!

What I mean by this is that this episode tells of how prom is coming up  for Crystal Cove... Which of course is the perfect time for some spooky haunted goodness to show up...

During this time, the city government has become aware that a, 'Phantom Girl' has been taking wayward teenage boys, and they are never seen again. Well during this time a new student by the name of, 'Alice May' (Hyden Walch) comes to town and immediately Fred (Frank Welker), who up to this point has not only not been interested in Daphne (Grey DeLisle) who has been chasing after him vigorously, but as far as humans go, only seemed to show a very minor friendship vibe with them (with the exception of Shaggy (Matthew Lillard) for some reason...)

Fred actually shows strong interest in the new girl, and it will be up to Daphne and the remainder of the gang to discover the deep dark secret that this new girl is harboring and who this, 'Phantom Girl' is... Before the prom is ruined for all of them!

In the end, this episode truly is a breathe of fresh air, what with all the none-sense that made this episode so horrible being toned down to almost nothing!

In the end, this episode is a surprising turn of events, and was actually really quite fun, and take it from me, some one who up to this point has not been a fan of the series... give this one a try , you might like it... I did!

Halo: Reach (2010) - Video Game Review

You know I hate admit it, but there was a lot of years in which I just kind of dropped out of the world of, 'Video Games'... Not really sure why that is... Just didn't have time for them I suppose...

The reason that I mention this is because a few years ago I ended up trying out the, 'XBox 360', and you know what? I found out that not only did I absolutely love it (and still do), but it got me back in to video games in a major way, and when my wife bought me an XBox 360 for our anniversary a few years back it came with a game that I found was a great way to get back in to the world of Video Games!

That game of course being: 'Halo Reach' (2010)!

Developed by Bungie for the XBox 360, this game takes place before, 'Halo: Combat Evolved' but after the book, 'Halo: The Fall Of Reach' and tells the story of how in the future mankind is fighting the war against a group of Alien races calling themselves, 'The Covenant'. During the time frame in which Reach takes place, most of man's colonies have been destroy, and at the beginning of the game you start off as a new member of, 'Noble Team' on the last planet... This one is also in ruins.

Through out the game you are fighting off Covenant forces, until you reach a ring world planet, and the events of, 'Halo: Combat Evolved' begins to take over!

Well hopefully I didn't give you to much of the story... The truth is though, is this game is a lot of fun, the graphics in this first person shooter are amazing, the sound track is spectacular, and fighting the enemy is a total blast... honestly the only problem I had with the game is the fact that I was still relatively new to the XBox 360, and if you have never played a game on that system before, 'Halo: Reach' may not be the one for you!

Other then that though, if you don't have a problem with the game play, then give it a try, I think you might find it to be a fun one!

Jinkies Guys, finally a truly good episod of the latest Scooby-Doo TV Show! That's right folks, the biggest problem about this series to date is that just about every episode that has been reviewed on this website to date have for the most part sucked!

I mean the bizarre way that Fred has acted... (He is still weird, but they have toned it down,) the bizarre style choices of the way that the shows creators have regarding which generation the Scooby gang are in is still there but toned down... As a matter of fact, the only really annoying thing about, 'The Song Of Mystery' (2010), is the ridiculous nature of the authorities and how they more concerned with their revenue stream, versus the safety of the town!

The Children of Crystal Cove appear to be changing when a monster playing a pan flute plays his magical song and changes the children in to raving monsters... The person taking credit for this latest mystery for the Scooby gang is, 'Que Horrifico'!

The Adults are clueless and abandoning their children as they themselves flee the town. The Scooby gangs parents have at least one of their children arrested to keep them out of it... And the authorities are only concerned with the town's revenue stream and absolutely nothing else.

The only thing that is going to save these kids and the town is the Scooby gang... And this one has a twist that hits right where the gang goes to School at!

At this point I know the show is for kids, the truth is, is I have no hope for this show, so to say that this episode is slightly better... That is not hope... This episode is not slightly better, it is just a little less bad!

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Season 1 - Episode 4: 'Revenge Of The Man Crab' (2010) – Tv Episode Review

You know I am a person that is not hard to please when it comes to the type of entertainment that I like... So with that in mind when there is something that I just absolutely don't like, it is usually with good reason!

And you know what, 'Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated'  is just one of those shows that so far I just don't like! Don't get me wrong, the animation is pretty well done, and the talent is pretty alright... But the theme of series is all over the place, with the series seeming to be centered in modern times, but with far to many scattered elements that are spread through out the last 50 years! With clothing from the 70s, 80s, 90s and new millennium, as well as the attitudes of the people in the show being spread out that way to!

Another annoying thing is the fact that they make it pretty  evident that Fred gets a hard on for traps... And the Sheriff is more concerned about the towns financial portfolio!

And with all that is said and done... Episode 4 of Season 1: 'Revenge Of The Man Crab' is probably the worst of the series that I have seen so far!

Written by: Adam Beechen (Hero Factory) & Directed by: Victor Cook (21 Grams)... This extremely dull episode tells the story of how a Crab Monster is terrorizing a Crystal Cove Volley Ball tradition, and that the Scooby gang is having to deal with a disgruntled Sailor who maybe a part of it!

In the end, besides the obvious, there is nothing  good about this episode, except that maybe it is trying to pander to the dumbest of children on Earth... And frankly this episode, like this series, just wasn't worth it... At least that is my opinion!

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed 2 (2010) - Video Game Review

When I first got in to the new (well for me new at the time), XBox 360, one of the first couple of games I was able to get my grubby little mits on was, 'Star Wars: The Force Unleashed' (2008)...

And where as I have to admit that this game was really hard to figure out how to control, one of the things that I will say, is that I had an awful lot of fun playing it... I mean it had a great story that incorporated some of the elements of both the original movie series and the prequel movie series... It also had some great characters that were very well created and voiced... I mean all and all that game was a lot of fun!

The reason that I mention this is because when I got in to the sequel, I actually found it to be better... I know... I was shocked as well!
This sequel in my opinion was better developed story wise then the first one, I like the more intense character development and conflict in this one. I also liked that the universe for this one was drastically expanded... And last but not least, (I will admit that to some extent this is a little lame but it is true)... I thought the two lightsaber thing was real cool!

In the end, this game is a total blast, and if you get a chance to try it, I think you might find out why!

The Main Mistake When Remaking Horror Movies...

As we all know, Hollywood, for about the last decade or so, has been remaking just about everything that has ever come out... With a special emphasis on remaking horror movies...

I have wondered why this is... I mean is it because they are out of ideas? Or maybe Hollywood in it's bid to continue to suck out every cent that they could out of some of horror's most classic horror movie franchises (like, 'Friday The 13th', or 'A Nightmare On Elm Street'... Just to name a few.)

Well for whatever the reasons that maybe, there is one thing that they have mostly done wrong when it comes to trying to remake these movies... In my opinion it is one of the biggest mistakes that they have made... It is a mistake that they don't always make... But they do often make... That is, the choices that the studios make for the people they hire to write the story for the remade masterpiece!

Now you might be asking, 'why is that so important?' I imagine some of you are probably thinking, 'that's nonsense... The biggest problem is the fact that they over CGI everything!' Well, to that last one I will say that it is definitely one of the problems, but in my opinion the writing is the main problem!

As for the writers themselves... Well, for the most part, they are in-and-of-themselves not bad writers... I'm just not convinced that all of them are fans of the genre, or fans of the original movies that they are trying to remake... You have to have that if you are going to have a successful remake!

A couple of good examples of this are:

1. A Nightmare On Elm Street (2010)... Let's be honest here... This movie stunk, as far as a remake goes, this movie was virtually killed off a legendary series that had for itself created: 7 sequels, a TV series, helped launch the careers of a lot of A list celebrities, including: Johnny Depp (Pirates Of The Caribbean: The Curse Of The Black Pearl), Breckin Meyer (Rat Race) and Patricia Arquette (True Romance) as well as having created tons of media in just about every venue... I mean Freddy Krueger was a house hold name... but when the remake came out that all pretty much has gone to pot, with no new, 'Nightmare' movies currently being released!

2. Friday The 13th (2009), in all truth, I thought that this movie was better then the, 'Nightmare' remake, but again... This movie series was a house hold name because of it's popularity, and since the release of the remake movie, has not seen another, 'Friday' movie on the horizon!

Now I have heard rumors of sequels coming out someday... But then again I have also heard rumors of Halloween 3 supposedly starting production since 2009 as well!

Either way, the main reason that I think that these movies tanked is because of the story! I mean don't get me wrong... If you are like me, then you probably had a hard time getting past the fact that Robert Englund (Urban Legends) was no longer, 'Freddy'... But, Friday The 13th, really did not have that excuse... And story wise was just not as good (I mean they tried to rely on the success of the, 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' remake for this movie scene wise... And they tried to change the basic makeup of, 'Jason' himself... To say the least... A big mistake!)

Now I have shown you the negative side... I wanted to show you the positive side as well with Rob Zombie (House Of 1,000 Corpses) did with his remake!

Before I go on... Let me say this, Rob Zombie is a true fan of the Halloween series, (he has mentioned it in a few of the interviews that I have seen him do about the, 'Halloween' movies,) with that in mind, it shows!

Mainly I say this because I personally believe that Rob Zombie took the story to such an extreme that not only was it fun, but I felt it really honored the original vision of John Carpenter (The Ward) and Mr. Carpenter's vision for the original movie!

Well if you haven't seen it yet, I won't say to much, just to say that, John Carpenter's original 1978 classic, 'Halloween' movie is my favorite movie, but I also thoroughly enjoyed Rob Zombie's version as well!

Skrillex: Bangarang (2010) - Song Review

You know up till recently I have to admit that one of the types of music that I was not really much of a fan of is, 'Techno'... Don't get me wrong, it is not the worst thing, but most of the types of techno that I have heard is just annoyingly repetitive!

Well recently my wife kind of got me in to listening to, 'Skrillex'... I gotta say that I am pretty freaking impressed! Don't get me wrong, there are still some fairly repetitive beats to his work, but in the end I have found that in the way that he arranges his songs that they are not just repetitive, but that they are fun... Almost in a techno version of a Robert Rodriguez movie...

Weird right?

Well what I mean by this is that his songs are dirty, they are more gutteral! And I found that to be rather a lot of fun... It definitely worked for the song he did in 2010, 'Bangarang'!

Put together for his 2011 album of this same name, when listening to this song, I really found that I could almost be in a techno club listening to this song!

If you haven't heard this song yet, then I highly recommend doing so, the truth is, is that I found this song to be a pretty solid good time, not the best of his work, but certainly not the worst!

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated: Season 1 - Episode 3: 'Secret Of The Ghost Rig' (2010) - TV Episode Review

I will be honest and say that so far the first two episodes of this series were pretty stupid... The stories were kind of bland, the scripts kind of ridiculous, and frankly, Scooby & the Gang seemed to me to be really out of place in modern times... (They still looked the same that they did in the 60s, but in the modern day... I found this to be kind of weird...)

But I will be honest and say that Episode 3: ' Secret Of The Ghost Rig' truly is a breathe of fresh air!

You see this episode, which written by: Joe Ruby (Centurions) & Ken Spears (The Chipmunks), tells the story of a, 'Ghost Truck'... (A sort of voluminous truck that when it is seen on the road, looks like a truck with no one driving, and with flaming wheels)...

Well the truck seems to like to try and kill passing motorists by driving them off of the road... During this time, the town's crystal door knobs are being stolen bit by bit.

So it will be up to Scooby-Doo and the rest of the mystery incorporated team (with the help of, 'Mr. E') to try and find who is stealing these doorknobs, and who is responsible for the, 'Ghost Truck', before the town's Crytal Doorknobs disappear, and the Ghost Truck kills it's first victim!

In the end folks, there is still certain stupid elements that at this point in the series they haven't really gotten rid of... (Including the Sheriff being more concerned with the city's revenue stream, then lives, or, 'Fred and his ambiguous sexuality...' I know that maybe odd to say, but there is interest from the girls in the team with the boys, but Fred seems more interested in being friends with, 'Shaggy', then with responding in kind to, 'Daphne', and, 'Shaggy' seems more interested in, 'Scooby-Doo' then in, 'Velma'. I know it is a kids show, but if you are going to have the girls showing interest, then you should have the boys doing so as well!)

In the end, if this episode is an indication of things to come, then this show may finally be something worth checking out!
