Linkin Park: Papercut (2000) - Song Review

Linkin Park... Now I have to admit that the first time I heard these guys, I heard there song, 'In The End', when I was working at a mall during the Christmas season when I was just out of High School... Now at the time I had no idea who they were, except that I really liked their sound, and was bound and determined to get one of their CDs asap!

Well as luck would have it, I was able to pick up the CD, 'Hybrid Theory' (2000), and their song, 'Papercut' hooked me!

I will say this, the reason that I like this song is because it is lively, and energetic, and heavily reminds me of a mix between the beat and energy of, 'Rap', with the heavy tones of heavy metal... (And trust me when I say that I am not the biggest fan of rap by any stretch, but this song rules!)

So if you haven't tried this song yet... Get the album... Listen to the song... You won't regret it!

Chrono Cross (2000) - Video Game Review

In Hollywood these days, one of the things that it seems like the studios are doing are making a sequels to movies that came out 20 or 30 years ago... Now I haven't seen all of these, but again I have to wonder... Why? I mean most of these sequels that are coming out generally seem to be majorly past their prime!

Now as for video games, I feel like video games have a shorter window of what could be considered to be an acceptable time frame between sequels and what not... And so that is just one of the reasons that I hate to say it, but I was pretty disappointed in: Chrono Cross (2000)!

A sort of a mixed bag...

Developed and Published by Square Enix, and released in Japan in 1999 and in America in 2000 for Sony's 'Playstion', this game tells the story of the character, 'Serge' who after discovering that there is a parallel world in which he dies, he goes out on a quest to find out where the divergence between the two realities happened!

Now I am going to be honest with you guys and say that this game is not horrible, it is actually a lot of fun! The  main problem that I personally had with it, is that Chrono Trigger was a truly amazing game, and as a sequel it was really disappointing... So much so that for me... It really detracted from the game itself... As a stand alone game though, this game was actually pretty fun!

Linkin Park: In The End (2000) - Song Review

Linkin Park... Believe it or not guys, I have since discovered this metal band in the most unlikely of spots...

You see, when I was younger I worked a Christmas at a mall, and like most malls during Christmas, they played a lot of Christmas music (the only problem is that in the mall I worked in, they played the same 3 or 4 Christmas songs, and one other song...) That song being, In The End (2000) from their NU Metal album, 'Hybrid Theory'!

Now besides the fact that this song was truly an amazing breath of fresh, (trust me when I say that listening to Natalie Cole's, 'I'm Dreaming Of A White Christmas' 5 or 6 hundred times is enough to make anything seem like a breath of fresh air!) Anyway, this song in general... Well... It is true that this song has some great vocals & instrumentals, but the best part of this song is how it is put together, and the story about this song that makes it great!

In my opinion, this is not the best song that Linkin Park has done to date, but as for Hybrid Theory, this in my opinion is the best of the album... And is still a pretty awesome song in general... Check it out, I think that you might really like it!

Arnold Schwarzenegger... A Great Action Superstar... An AmazingHorror/Sci-fi Actor

The King of the big screen has had many layers to his storied career!

That's right folks, most people recognize Arnold for his amazing contributions to the world of the, 'Action Movie', and up til a few years ago as, 'The Governator' when he was the Governor of California... But besides all of that, there is another side to Arnold that I certainly believe is worth mentioning... That is his contributions to the world of Horror and Science Fiction!

Now most of you guys probably would recognize him in the field of Science Fiction for the work that he did in the, 'Terminator' franchise, as well as the work he did in the original, 'Total Recall' movie, and if I had to guess, I would go so far as to say that almost none of you would recognize him for his work in the world of horror!

But the truth is... Where as he may not have had much of a horror career, he has done one movie, which... Well it may not be the greatest, considering... It is alright, that being: End Of Days (1999), but he good news is that this side is growing, as it looks like Lionsgate has picked up the horror movie, 'Maggie' which is supposed to have Schwarzenegger in it, and which is supposed to be released later this year!

And as for Science Fiction... Well hell, we got the, 'Terminator' series, and Total Recall (1990), there are also some extremely awesome Sci-fi movies, such as: Last Action Hero (1993)!

Last Action Hero tells the story of a kid who loves movies so much, that when he gets a magic ticket, he ultimately ends up by mistake, not only jumping in to the world of his favorite Action hero, 'Jack Slater' (Played by: Schwarzenegger), but bringing that world back with him!

Now this movie I have never understood why is so undervalued, I mean this movie is a totally awesome fun time! I know, because I just saw it again recently (Don't worry, that review is coming...)

Fictional Character meet person who played you... A scene from, 'Last Action Hero'!

The next one that I thought that I would mention here is, The 6th Day (2000)...

Now I truly don't understand why this movie didn't get more play, I mean Arnold and the rest of the cast did a great job in it, and the story that touched on the controversy of, 'cloning', when a man ends up stumbling in to the world created for his, 'clone,' was just awesome, and hell, even the special effects were the right kind of awesome as well!

Now this last one I am going to say is maybe one of his better movies to have been released as an Action/Sci-fi movies... That movie being: Predator (1987)... Arnold did a great job in this movie, but the truth is, is that I really liked this movie because the story I felt like accurately depicted what it would be like for American forces to go up against an Alien force with vastly superior resources!

Predator... A true Schwarzenegger classic!

Anyway, there are other Schwarzenegger Sci-fi movies out there, I just thought that I would mention the Sci-fi movies as well as horror movie from above, because... Well... These are probably the best... (Well in the case of the horror movie, the only, for the time being...)

3 Doors Down. Kryptonite (2000) - Song Review

You know I will be honest and say that I really don't know much about 3 Doors Down... I do know this though, when I was younger and had just gotten out of high school I worked a job in a warehouse...

The job was not bad, but since no one worked there with me I ended up working alone with the only thing keeping me company being a radio... Thank god for that to, because, where as it did introduce me to a lot of good music, it also introduced me to, '3 Doors Down'!

I will say that there music is pretty awesome, but a little understated, what I mean by this is that it seemed like they were a 90s band that struggled to become something in the new millennium... Well As it turns out, they were successful!

The reason that I mention this is because there is one particular song that I heard a lot on the radio, 'Kryptonite', and I will say that this song truly did have a lot of promise... And now that I have heard it in the modern day, I have to say that I am impressed!

The truth is, is being a fan of 90s music, I found this song to be a welcomed blast from the past, and I still feel like this song was a great band trying to make it in to the new millennium... The truth is folks, is if the rest of their music is as good as this song is, then they are one worth following... So give it a try, I don't know if you will love it or not, but I am sure you will like it... I did and still do!

Top Five Killer Disturbed Songs

You know I will be honest and say that I have only gotten in to the music of, 'Disturbed' recently... The truth is though, is that this band that has been around since the 90s and is pretty bad ass!

The reason that I say this is the fact that there sound is truly spectacular, I mean they seem anyway to me to take the best part of a lot of heavy metal bands of the 90s, including: Metallica & Marilyn Manson as well as Nine Inch Nails, and turn that in to a sound that is all there own!

So for those of you guys who are fans, I thought you guys would enjoy this, and for those of you haven't heard them yet... Well I thought that you guys would enjoy the 5 songs that I would consider to be the top 5 best songs they have ever made! So enjoy!

At number 5: Indestructible (2008), from the album with the same title.

The next one on the block at number 3: The Night (2009), from the album, 'Indestructible'.

Two Shows That Were Canceled In Their Prime

Personally, at the start of the new millennium I found a trend with TV that was really quite frustrating! That trend being the fact that I noticed that more and more of the classic TV shows that made the 90s so awesome were heading off the air and being replaced with... dare I say it? CRAP!

But not just crap, they were being replaced with the likes of... Reality TV! Oh it was a dark day for the world of TV for sure...

Well fortunately channels seem to have finally gotten the hint, and have started bringing quality TV back to their stations, including Horror and Science Fiction TV shows!

With that in mind, I thought that I would give some suggestions for some TV shows that had been prematurely canceled during the dark days of the, 'Reality TV' craze, or just before it...

The first one that I thought that I would mention here is: Point Pleasant (2005):

Now this classic show, (which only lasted 13 episodes) told the story of a teenage girl whom after washing ashore during a violent storm, is taken in by the local Doctor and his family...  And as she settles in to her new life, she works to find out who she really is (and as she does so, the darker and dark nature of who she really is!)

In the end, this show ended way to early, it had a great cast, a great story line, the episode arrangement was truly fantastic, but the show was pulled due to... (poor ratiungs), well for more information on this show, please enjoy this trailer from: Point Pleasant:

The next show that I wanted to mention here is, Harsh Realm (1999 - 2000):

Now here is a show that if it had, had a chance probably would have gone on to be a truly epic cult classic, what do I mean by this, well it had some very A list TV talent, including D.B. Sweeny (Fire In The Sky), Scott Bairstow (The Postman) & even Terry O'Quinn (The Stepfather).

This show also had an awesome well thought out, 'Matrixish' pseudo-post-apocalyptic story, in which it says that the government is running a virtual reality program... There is already a lot of American Soldiers that have disappeared in to this virtual world... One of them has not only taken over the virtual world, but now threatens the real one...

So the Military sends in Lieutenant Tom Hobbs (Scott Bairstow)... His mission is to destroy the, 'General' (Terry O'Quinn)... Little does he know that besides his mission to save the world, he is going to ultimately have to figure out how to get out of that world and back to the real one and back to the woman he loves!

Well folks, there sure are a lot of these types of shows out there, but for me, these 2 shows have always seemed like the type of shows that should have been on the air longer then they were, and because they got canceled pre-maturely during the dark days of, 'Reality TV', and that fad is fading, perhaps it is time to bring them back to life... Ya think?

American Psycho (2000) - Movie Review

Before Christian Bale (Equilibrium) became an international box office sensation with having not just revived the (at that time) dead, 'Batman' series, with the, 'Dark Knight' series, there is a movie... (and although it is tough to say this, because I am also a huge fan of the, 'Dark Knight' series), but a movie that was based on the Bret Easton Ellis novel of the same name that in my opinion, may actually be better then the Dark Knight series... And that movie being, American Psycho (2000)!

Written by: Mary Harron (The Moth Diaries), Guinevere Turner (Chasing Amy) & Directed by: Mary Harron. Starring: Christian Bale, Justin Theroux (Mulholland Drive), Josh Lucas (Hulk), Bill Sage (Boiler Room), Chloë Sevigny (Zodiac), Reese Witherspoon (Fear), Samantha Mathis (Buried), Matt Ross (The Aviator), Jared Leto (Urban Legends) & Willem Dafoe (Spider-Man).

You know, the truth is, is the only fault I could really find with this movie, is the producers, and the damage they did by doing a shockingly bad sequel! I mean the cast is great... (Well I mean check it out above!) I loved the story and how the message was of the greed and ultimate degradation, and pointlessness of some of the filthy rich in the 1980s!

What I mean by this is that, Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale), is a young well to do rich man, who gets all the ladies, and is working for his father's company...

The problem though is that Patrick Bateman is bored... Other then trying to outshine the rest of the world, he is bored... So much so that he comes in to work and ignores most everyone by listening to his walkman, he also goes to great excess to prove that he is better then everyone else, (so much so, that he nearly freaks out when he discovers that some of his colleagues may actually have better business cards then he does!

But Patrick Bateman has a secret... A blood lust, that he is about to release... The only problem is that when he does so, it begins to consume him, as he starts to loose it more and more, and act out his favorite murder scenes from some of the most violent horror movies of the 1980s...  It will take Detective Donald Kimball (Willem Dafoe) to stop him before Patrick Bateman is allowed to take out the power elite!

But is he really killing these people, or is this just the delusional fantasies of a bored rich kid?

Like I said above, I really can't complain, the only thing I didn't like about this movie was how bad the sequel was... Otherwise I have to admit that everything about this movie worked real nicely for me, and if you haven't seen it yet, and if you get a chance to try it out, do so, you might find the same thing as well!

X-Men: Evolution: Season 1 - Episode 5. 'Speed And Spyke' (2000) - TV Episode Review

The one thing so far that I have to say that I really don't understand about, 'X-Men: Evolution' is the fact that characters like, 'Jean Grey', 'Cyclops' and, 'Nightcrawler' are considered to be High Schoolers, but, 'Wolverine' & 'Storm' are adults? I mean they are all supposed to be roughly about the same age in just about any other form of media that has to do with the 'X-Men'...

Regardless though, this series so far is pretty good, and Season 1 - Episode 5: 'Speed And Spyke' (2000) is good example of this!

Starring: Kirby Morrow (InuYasha), Scott McNeil (Conan The Adventurer), Venus Terzo (Da Vinci's Inquest), Maggie Blue O'Hara (CardCopters), Christopher Judge (Stargate: SG1), Neil Denis (RoboCop: Alpha Command), Christopher Gray (Fear), Brad Swaile (Mobile Suite Gundam 00), Kirsten Alter (Juno), David Kaye (Up), Richard Ian Cox (RV), Noel Fisher (Battle Los Angeles) & Colleen Wheeler (The Tall Man).

Now this episode is an interesting one... Not particularly good, not particularly bad... But if season 1 has been about Proffessor Xavier (David Kaye) & Magneto (Christopher Judge) recruiting for their perspective sides in the upcoming battles... Then one thing that should stand out real nicely is the fact that this episode has to do with both sides recruiting their newest members!
In the case of Professor Xavier and the, 'X-Men' their next team member is, 'Spyke'...

Now Spyke (Neil Denis) is the nephew of Storm (Kirsten Alter), and has been trying to recruit Spyke to join the Xavier Institute for awhile... So much so that ultimately she will bring in Jean Grey (Venus Terzo) & Cyclops (Kirby Morrow) to try and talk him in to it!

What finally gets him to sign up, is when after being blamed for breaking in to lockers at his school, (something that his enemy, 'Quick Silver' (Richard Ian Cox) had been doing, and had taken off when the cops showed up, leaving Spyke as the fall guy.)

Well Quick Silver isn't exactly one to work with a team himself, but Magneto really wants him on his team and works with his minion, 'Mystique' (Colleen Wheeler) to help bring Spyke and Quick Silver together for a final confrontation (believing that Quick Silver can have this final confrontation, that he could potentially end up being happy with becoming a member of Magneto and his group...)

In the end, this episode was just plan old fun... I mean plot wholes aside, I just have to say that this episode was just fun... Not edge of your seat fun, but if your looking for something fun to watch on a lazy afternoon, this one is worth it!

X-Men Evolution. Season 1 - Episode 4, 'Mutant Crush' (2000) - TV Episode Review

The truth is, is I can't imagine that Hollywood will ever really use any of the elements that were created in the cartoon, 'X-Men Evolution'...
That is a shame, because the truth is, is A: This series is an awful lot of fun, B: This also has an interesting concept for a potential eventual reboot movie series... But also C: There is an element that I kind of felt has been missing from other, 'X-Men' series, either on TV, or in the movies, and that is the character, 'Shadowcat'...

I know it might seem like an insignificant detail that I am putting to much attention on... But the truth is, is, 'Shadowcat' in the comics (at least at one point), played a fairly substantial role, and that is one of the larger reasons why I fell like, 'X-Men Evolution' is so awesome, including Season 1 - Episode 4: 'Mutant Crush' (2000)!

You see, this first season seems to tell the story about the recruitment drive between mutant kind, between the side of good and working for Professor Charles Xavier (David Kaye) and his desire to get the world willing to work side by side with mutants... And Magneto (Christopher Judge), whose interest is to go to war and subjugate regular humans... Well this episode tells of the pitfalls of the new potential recruit, 'Fred 'Blob' Dukes' (Michael Dobson).

Now at first Dukes is in Texas as a sort of sideshow at one of the big monster truck shows there... During this time both, 'Wolverine' (Scott McNeil) & Jean Gray (Venus Terzo) are kind of watching the show and waiting for the right moment to strike... The problem is, is so is, 'Mystique' (Colleen Wheeler)... The problem is, is Mystique has gotten to him first, and has gotten him in to her School...

When he gets there though, the hot headed mass of muscles ends up freaking out at just about half of the School... That is until Jean Gray befriends him...

And now with this dangerous hothead interested, it will be up to the, 'X-Men' to stop this mass from taking his interests for Jean to dangerous new levels!

Paul Walker... A Tribute To A, 'Skull' At The End Of His, 'Joyride'

With the unfortunate passing of superstar, actor Paul Walker (Vehicle 19), I thought it would be fun to remember Paul Walker, not just for his amazing contributions to the world in general (of which there is numerous), but to remember that little piece of Paul Walker that entertained fright fans all over the world... I am talking about the work that he would do in the classic horror movies: The Skulls (2000), & Joyride (2001)!

In, The Skulls (2000), Paul Walker would star as: 'Caleb Mandrake' alongside, Joshua Jackson (Fringe) in a movie that would tell the story of the secret lives of those in secret societies, and the damage that it can cause them, and how as these college students become members of these secret societies, can also go on to an amazing career after their experience in these societies... In the case of, 'The Skulls'... Well the name says it all!

As for Joyride (2001), Paul Walker would co-star with, LeeLee Sobieski (The Glass House) & Steve Zahn (Saving Silverman) in this heart stopping chill ride that tells the story of when 3 friends on a trip from Colorado to New Jersey, who end up talking to a trucker on a CB that ends up being a lunatic and chases after them!

Jon Bon Jovi: It's My Life (2000) - Song Review

You know, one of my favorite shows when I was a teenager was the show, 'Roswell'... This show told the story of 3 Alien/Human Hybrids, who were royalty at one point on another planet, and who were sent to Earth due to a catastrophe on their home world.

The reason that I mention this is that, 'Shiri Appleby' (Unstable) who played the fully human, 'Liz Parker' (The love interest of the lead character in the show) I found out not long after the show ended in 2000, was in a music video for the song, 'It's My Life' (2000) by Jon Bon Jovi.

Now before I go on, I should probably say this... Up to this point, I didn't really know much of the work that Bon Jovi did... I mean I personally didn't listen to much of his music (I had heard a couple of his songs in various movies when I was younger, nut really nothing much,) and none of my friends or family at that time, that I know of, ever listened to his music....

So with that in mind though, when I found the music video for, 'It's My Life'... Not only was I, 'IMPRESSED', but I will be honest and say that I was, blown away by just how, 'AWESOME' this song truly was!

I mean up till the point when I heard this song, a large part of what I thought that Bon Jovi sang was, 'Country'... And well... Country isn't bad, it is just not my thing...

No, this song, (which was written by: Bon Jovi, Richie Sambora & Max Martin), had a great hard rock tone, with a classic rock feel, in the style that had been popular in the late 90s!

What I mean by this, is that this song had a lot of great instrumentals in it that you would hear in the more hard rock bands, but with the classic rock feel that not only is popular in a lot of songs that I have heard Bon Jovi do over the years, but is also what makes a lot of the non-western movies that are based in some capacity in the desert so awesome!

So if you are looking for something truly kick ass to get in to, then give this one a try, I doubt that you will regret!

X-Men: Evolution: Season 1 - Episode 3: 'Rogue Recruit' (2000) - TV Episode Review

You know there is this perception with a lot of people that if you watch Cartoons, yet you are an adult, that there is something wrong with you... Yet if you watch certain animated movies like, Persepolis (2007), that everything is A-Ok... Why is that?

Well I can't really say for certain but my suspicion is the fact that if you watch cartoons that you are in some way childish and immature... But if you watch animated movies like, Persepolis that you are cultured and sophisticated... I suppose that could be true if you derive the same type of enjoyment with cartoons as an adult that you did as a kid... But being a fan of animation in both the cartoon and animated form, but no longer (and not since I was a kid), wanting to be Batman anymore, I gotta say that it seems like some one who would say that watching cartoons as an adult being childish and immature, while watching animated movies like, Persepolis, is a little bit of a double standard!

I mean I think that it is great to watch old X-Men cartoons, in some respects it is almost like seeing the comics coming to life!

And that is just one of the reasons that I found X-Men: Evolution: Episode 3: 'Rogue Recruit' so interesting!

Now this is one I am talking about! What I mean by that, is this is the episode features the entrance of another classic X-Man, 'Rogue' (Meghan Black) in to the mix!

You see, Rogue is a down south girl from Mississippi where she is just about to come in to, 'contact' with her soon to be burgeoning mutant, 'Super Power'... That being when she touches some one she ends up draining some of their life force!

Well when she comes in to contact with the School jock and puts him in to a comma, her mutant power signals Cerbero (Sort of a mutant super computer.)  Because of this, Professor Xavier (David Kaye) and the other side end up sending representatives down to try and persuade her to join with them... The only problem is that since Mystique (Colleen Wheeler), tends to be more persuasive in these matters, it looks like Rogue will end up being left to her own devices for the time being!

Now the truth is, is that I do like this episode... even if it is not canonically accurate! (Ultimately in the comics Rogue ends up meeting up with the X-Men years later after doing many evil deeds (including sucking all of the powers out of a super hero!)

But never the less, it a fun episode and more then well worth the time!

X-Men: Evolution: Season 1 - Episode 2: 'The X-Impulse' - TV Episode Review

So far I have to say that I am pretty impressed with this series, I mean I haven't seen to many episodes yet, but the ones that I have seen I gotta say have been pretty awesome!

Admittedly it is true that unless you are a fan of animation then you might find this show to be a little infantile (probably almost exclusively due to the fact that it is a cartoon...) But if you are reading this review then I suspect you are like me, and are a fan of this type of stuff!) Anyway, so far this series has proven to be real nice addition to the, 'X-Men' world!

Although it is true that probably for the most part, I doubt the Hollywood would really utilize the information from this cartoon, it is cool... I mean you get a  glimpse in to the possible history of the, 'X-Men'  from their origin as Children... Which I haven't really seen in the movies (although there are elements that may slowly be coming together...) Also I have to admit that I never was able to find the X-Men origin comics, and so I never got to read about their true origins... And that is largely in my opinion what makes this show awesome!

Although I hate to say it... But as a follow up episode to the pilot, Episode 2 is pretty bland... But we will get in to that in a moment...

Now I hate to say it, but this episode was not the most inventive episode there is, and frankly not the most entertaining... but it does introduce, Shadow Cat (Kitty Pryde), and Avalanche (Lance Alvers) in to the mix... both of course being important characters in both the good and evil side of the X-Men Universe...

You see Kitty Pryde (Maggie Blue O'Hara) is a young high school girl who is just learning the scary fact that she is a mutant and not particularly happy about it especially when she ends up waking up one evening having phased through the floor and in to the basement of her house...

Now the unhappy, 'Kitty' and her parents are just trying to make the best of it when Cyclops (Kirby Morrow) and Jean (Venus Terzo) are asked to go and recruit Kitty to become the latest edition of the growing (X-Men) family... Of course non of them are particularly enthused by this...

But in the end things will change... You see Kitty is being pursued by a delinquent (and fellow mutant) by the name of, 'Lance  Alvers' (Christopher Gray) who will try to win her over to the dark side of the force and get her to try and break in and steal a test that he wants to sell!

If Cyclops, Jean and and her old (and soon to be new) families can get to her in time though, she will be inducted in to a a world that will change her life in a positive way forever!

Like I said, this episode is not particularly inventive, the story line is not particularly original (it has been done many times over in both TV and the movies), but in all truth the best thing that I can say about this current episode is that it does take the story line in the right direction (even the older more well drawn X- Men cartoon from the 90s didn't have Shadow Cat in it... Which is a shame because she truly was an original, 'X-Man'!)

In summation, this may not be the best episode of the series, but stick with it, I doubt you will be disappointed... I know I haven't been!

Andromeda Season 1 Episode: 'Under The Night' (2000) TV Episode Review

I am a fan of Kevin Sorbo (Hercules: The Legendary) but up until 2000 I honestly would not have thought of Kevin Sorbo as a Science Fiction actor... I mean he did such a great job as, 'Hercules' in, (Hercules: The Legendary Journey), but you know  what? He actually did a surprisingly great job as, 'Captain Dylan Hunt' in the 2000 - 2005  Gene Roddenberry created TV series Andromeda!

Written & Developed by: Robert Hewitt Wolfe (Riverworld) and Directed by: Allan Kroeker (Cult) Starring: Kevin Sorbo, Lisa Ryder (Jason X), Keith Hamilton Cobb (Eyes Beyond Seeing), Laura Bertram (50/50), Brent Stait (Final Destination 5), Gordon Michael Woolvett (Bride Of Chucky) & Lexa Doig (Continuum)!

This episode sort of starts it all, you see in the world of Andromeda, Captain Dylan Hunt (Sorbo) is the CO of the Commonwealth Ship, 'Andromeda Ascendant' and during this time, he is lead in to a Nietzschean ambush, during this time Hunt evacuates the crew... except his traitorous first officer who stays on board, and as the ship heads for a black hole, Hunt ends up taking out hist first officer!

Now centuries later, the Galaxy has become drastically less ordered with the collapse of the, 'Commonwealth', during this time a salvage ship finds, 'The Andromeda' and thinking that she is an old abandoned, 'Commonwealth' vessel that had been set adrift, come aboard to try and salvage it... Little do they know that Captain Hunt had been in suspended animation during this time and will do everything he can to reclaim his vessel!

In the end though, this crew will learn to work with Hunt, and the crew will set off on a life that no one will ever forget it!

Now I can tell you what is great about this show, but for this episode, the best thing honestly is seeing where this ship comes together and how one man is going to have to learn to live his life in a Universe that he no longer understands!

In the end this episode is a good start to a great series, I liked it, and if you give it a chance I think that you will find that you like it as well!

Ed Gein... Movies He Inspired!

Unless you are an extreme horror movie fan or some one who does research on serial killers, then I doubt you would have heard of Ed Gein...

Well first of Ed Gein is one of the worst serial killers there is, yet he is also one of the most prolific serial killers in history... Why is that? Well besides the fact that he murdered only 2 people, and besides the fact that Ed Gein was more or less obsessed with his mother, he was also known to have made furniture and what not out of human body parts, as well as also having been known to have started making a woman costume out of human skin, to arrange some strange rituals... And yet he was a nice guy that lived as a hermit out in the middle of no where... Sound familiar?

It should, you see, one of the biggest contributions that Ed Gein contributed to the world, is what he contributed to the horror movie genre!

The first of these movies is, Psycho (1960), you see this movie was based on the book by author Robert Bloch who based his story mostly on Ed Gein's case, in that Psycho told the story of a reclusive young man by the name of, 'Norman Bates', who lived out at his mostly empty Motel, and who was obsessed with his overly possessive mother, and how after he kills a woman one night, the world that he had created for himself, had started spiraling out of control!

The next one that I thought that I would mention here is, Three On A Meathook (1974). Now this is another movie that is loosely based on the story of Ed Gein, with the exception that it appears that the mother is no longer in the picture, and the father appears to become obsessed with the son, when the son starts pulling away!

And another one that I thought that I would mention here (One of the first movies that maybe the first most closest adaptions of the old Ed Gein story), a movie that I found to be a lot of fun, (and if you are huge B Horror fan I think you might to), that movie is, Deranged: Confessions Of A Necrophile (1974). This movie tells the story about how after the death of the mother that he loved so dearly, that this old hermit farmer, becomes a grave robber and murderer, and even goes so far to try and keep and preserve his mother's corpse!

The next movie that I thought that I would say is more closely based on the story of Ed Gein is not so much a movie as it is a character in a movie, and that is the character of, 'Jame (Buffalo Bill) Gumb' (Played by: Ted Levine) from the award winning movie, Silence Of The Lambs (1991), a movie which has FBI trainee, 'Clarice Starling' (Played by: Jodie Foster) and how she enlisted the help of a captured serial killer in an effort to capture a serial killer by the name of, 'Buffalo Bill' a loner, that is kidnapping women in an effort to make a woman suit out of the women that he has murdered... And has gotten the FBI's attention when his latest kidnapping victim is the daughter of U.S. Senator!

The last one that I wanted to mention here is, Ed Gein: D.D.S. (2013). Now this movie hasn't been released yet, but this movie will tell the story of how a witches coven will resurrect Ed Gein using an old haunted dental chair that had been taken from the Hospital that he spent the last years of his life at.

And then of course there are the movies that are actually bio-pics of Ed Gein and his story, included in this is:

1. Ed Gein (2000), a movie which stars, Steve Railsback (Disturbing Behavior) as Gein.

2. Ed Gein: The Ghoul Of Plainfield (2004) a documentary on Gein himself.

3. Ed Gein: The Butcher Of Plainfield (2007) a horror movie that stars, Kane Hodder (Jason X)

4. Ed Gein: The Musical (2010) a movie which stars Dan Davies (West Of The Thunder)

The last area that I thought that I would mention here are just a few movies that took some element of Ed Gein and what he did for their film:

1. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (1974) used Gein as the inspiration for, 'Leatherface', as well as the fact that Leatherface and his creepy family are on a creepy out of the way farm that is decorated with furniture that was made from Human remains.

2. Motel Hell (1980), used the whole creepy killer farmer element that lives almost entirely out in the middle of no where, and kills people!

3. Maniac (1980) a movie that used the fact that the killer in this movie had an abusive mother, and that is why he kills women he deemed, 'un-clean'.

4. Ed And His Dead Mother (1993) in this movie the lead character who is mourning the loss of his mother that he has lived his entire life with, dies and ultimately he has brought back to life!

5. Roadkill: The Last Days of John Martin (1994) tells the story of a crazy meat carver who lives on a farm by himself and goes out and kills people with car trouble for food... He also has an ornamental dead head.

6. House Of 1,000 Corpse (2003), now I suspect that when Rob Zombie was making this film, that he utilized the fact that Ed Gein would dress up in a woman suit and would dance in bizarre rituals at night as inspiration in this movie for the moment in the movie when the family dresses up (in real costumes) to sacrifice the remaining people that they had captured to, 'Doctor Satan'!

Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The Thirteenth (2000) - Movie Review

In 1996, Director Wes Craven (A Nightmare On Elm Street), created yet another classic horror movie series in the, 'Scream series'. Now Scream had been meant to be a spoof on the horror movie genre...

The only problem with that is that with all great spoofs there has to be an element of serious and continuing comedy in the movie that, that spoof is making fun of! Fortunately for Dimension and the cast and crew that made that movie, that with the lack of continuing comedy through out the first, 'Scream' movie, that everything else that makes horror movies great was in there!

And thusly Scream would go on in to the anals of horror movie history as one of the great slasher horror movie series of the 1990s!

But if you thought that was all... Look again!

Because in 2000, the Wayan Brothers created an awesome spoof comedy movie that makes fun of some of the greatest scarfests of the last 20 years called Scary Movie!

The first Scary Movie, which starred Anna Farris (The Dictator) in this case was actually a spoof of a spoof in that it spoofed, Scream (1996)!

Now unfortunately you can only go so far with spoofing spoofs of horror movies I am afraid, because following on the heels of both the 'Scream franchise' and the, 'Scary Movie franchise' came, Shriek If You Know What I Did Last Friday The Thirteenth (2000).

This movie, which was written by: Sue Bailey (Battle Bots) and Joe Nelms (In Between) and which was Directed by: John Blanchard (The Kids In The Hall), tells the story of the new kid, in town who has a tragic past (played by: Harley Cross), and with whom is sent to Bulimia Falls High School!

Bulimia Hills High is a school where anything can happen... And usually does! From the most harmless of pranks (Wedgies and stuff) to having one of their students being, 'Chucky' from the Child's Play series!

Anyway through a series of attacks from the masked serial killer (who looks very similar to Ghost Face from, Scream). Dawson and his friends will have to try and escape from this masked maniac in the worst way possible!

Now on the positive side, the truth is, is that this movie does have a pretty awesome cast! Included in this cast are, Kim Griest (Don't Throw Mama From The Train), rapper, 'Coolio', Danny Strong (Buffy The Vampire Slayer), Tiffany Thiessen (Pandemic), Majandro Delfino (Roswell), Julie Benz (Dexter), and Tom Arnold (True Lies) to name a few!

And their are some seriously funny moments in this movie...

I also thought that I would mention the fact that Danny Strong who was on Buffy The Vampire Slayer, was reunited with actress Julie Benz who was also on the same show at the same time he was!

But beyond that, I wouldn't be expecting much more. It is fun mindless humor that is worth pulling out every once in awhile, but if your looking for true scares, this may not be the movie for you!

Alvin And The Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman (2000) - Movie Review

Now it is true that the horror genre, for the most part is a genre of Film, TV, or Written material that is inappropriate for most children.... But not always...

What I mean by this is that some times cartoons that are based on fairly child friendly characters, (such as, 'The Simpsons' or even Family Guy) are oft times Animated TV shows, whose, 'Halloween' episodes tend to be very child friendly.

As for movies, a great example of a horror based cartoon movie that I would say is something that is pretty kid friendly, is a movie that I just saw recently, Alvin And The Chipmunks Meet The Wolfman (2000)!

Written by: John Loy (Problem Child: The Animated Series) and Directed by: Kathi Castillo (Ghostbusters), Starring: Ross Bagdasarian Jr. (The Chipmunk Adventures), Janice Karman (A Chipmunk Reunion) and Maurice LaMarche (Pinky And The Brain).

This movie was a nice walk down memory lane for me. what I mean by this is today's chipmunk movies are known for being live action movies starring, Jason Lee (Chasing Amy)... But for most of us growing up in the 1980s we remember the time before the chipmunks was a live action movie and was still animated!

This enjoyable animated movie tells the story of how on the cusp of the Chipmunks, (and the Chippettes) Elementary school play for, 'Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde'. Now at this point in the lives of the Chipmunks and the Chippettes, Alvin is a horror fiend., to the point where for the longest time now, he has been waking up his entire house after having some horrible nightmares from all of the horror movies that he watches!

As a way to stop this, Simon, Theodore, and their father, 'Dave' decide to put a stop to this, by taking away everything that Alvin has that is horror related!

During this time a frustrated Alvin begins to suspect that his new neighbor may be a Werewolf!

Now during his investigations Alvin will come to discover just who the Werewolves really are! And will have to race against time to stop them before Alvin ends up loosing one of his nearest and dearest!

Another side of this movie that I really did enjoy quite a bit was the music! That was done by, Mark Watters (Aladdin And The King Of Thieves) and, Christopher Klatman (End Of Days)

Also, if you're a fan of animation like I am, then I think you older people might end up really enjoying this one, but otherwise, I do think this one is a fun one for the kids to enjoy!
