X-Men Evolution. Season 1 - Episode 4, 'Mutant Crush' (2000) - TV Episode Review

The truth is, is I can't imagine that Hollywood will ever really use any of the elements that were created in the cartoon, 'X-Men Evolution'...
That is a shame, because the truth is, is A: This series is an awful lot of fun, B: This also has an interesting concept for a potential eventual reboot movie series... But also C: There is an element that I kind of felt has been missing from other, 'X-Men' series, either on TV, or in the movies, and that is the character, 'Shadowcat'...

I know it might seem like an insignificant detail that I am putting to much attention on... But the truth is, is, 'Shadowcat' in the comics (at least at one point), played a fairly substantial role, and that is one of the larger reasons why I fell like, 'X-Men Evolution' is so awesome, including Season 1 - Episode 4: 'Mutant Crush' (2000)!

You see, this first season seems to tell the story about the recruitment drive between mutant kind, between the side of good and working for Professor Charles Xavier (David Kaye) and his desire to get the world willing to work side by side with mutants... And Magneto (Christopher Judge), whose interest is to go to war and subjugate regular humans... Well this episode tells of the pitfalls of the new potential recruit, 'Fred 'Blob' Dukes' (Michael Dobson).

Now at first Dukes is in Texas as a sort of sideshow at one of the big monster truck shows there... During this time both, 'Wolverine' (Scott McNeil) & Jean Gray (Venus Terzo) are kind of watching the show and waiting for the right moment to strike... The problem is, is so is, 'Mystique' (Colleen Wheeler)... The problem is, is Mystique has gotten to him first, and has gotten him in to her School...

When he gets there though, the hot headed mass of muscles ends up freaking out at just about half of the School... That is until Jean Gray befriends him...

And now with this dangerous hothead interested, it will be up to the, 'X-Men' to stop this mass from taking his interests for Jean to dangerous new levels!

What can I say, this episode is not out of the ordinary, but the truth is, is this episode is just plain fun... And if you check it out, you might find the same thing as well!

Sherlock Holmes In The 22nd Century: Season 1 - Episode 12: 'The Musgrave Ritual' - TV Episode Review

You know what? This was the first episode that I had actually seen of the series! I was looking for another show that I really like that is based on, 'Sherlock Holmes' that I really enjoy, and when I found this in the listings for what was available on Sherlock Holmes... Well the concept of a Sherlock Holmes TV show that is based 200 years in to the future was actually kind of a fascinating concept, and so I tried it with this episode and have not regretted it ever since!

Written by: Robert Askin (Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command) & Directed by: Robert Brousseau (Race). Starring:  Jason Gray-Stanford (Dragon Ball Z), John Payne (Duets), Michael Dobson (Dreamcatcher), Akiko Morison (Masterminds), Richard Newman (Beast Wars: Transformers), William Samples (The Big Year), Viv Leacock (This Means War), Jennifer Copping (Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog) & Ian James Corlett (Mega Man).

In his continuing efforts to foil Professor Moriarty (Richard Newman), the eminent Detectives, Sherlock Holmes (Jason Gray-Stanford) and Dr. John Watson (John Payne), have been given a new case of the utmost importance.... You see it turns out that some one has broken in to the British Museum successfully and stolen a most peculiar item... They stole what looked to be an ancient busted up sword that had originally been a part of the, 'Musgrave' family!

An ancient British family with the sword that had some almost mystical properties to it...

Sherlock Holmes & Doctor Watson, along with Inspector Beth Lestraude (Akiko Morison) are on the case! And as they conduct their search, they come to discover that the dasterdly Professor Jame Moriarty and his henchmen have stolen the item, and are hopping to unlock the key to the Musgrave ritual and gain almost limitless power!

Now what initially drew me to this episode was the fact that two characters I really enjoyed, 'but in their home in the 19th century novel' was given the opportunity to play out there roles in a space age futuristic England!

And I still find that to be the main draw for this episode, but I have to admit that after seeing a fair amount of this series as well as this episode, that as far as series goes, when they are traveling around in their hover vehicles, the animation is extremely sub-par... Especially considering the fact that when Sherlock and and everyone else are on the ground that they are very well drawn!

In the end though, it does not really detract to much from the episode, and is well worth a watch if you get a chance!
