#TV #Show Of The Half: The Flash!

As time has gone on, their has been a ton of truly magnificent horror and Science Fiction TV Shows that have come out, (some could say that there is a bit of a renaissance happening for the genres in general...)

But there is one show that I have to be honest and say has really hit the mark for me on every level this past half year, and that show is: The Flash! 

A fantastic show that deserves to be the show of the half!

Besides the fact that the show is based on one of my favorite DC characters, I am going to say that the development in the individual characters on the show truly is amazing, and that the special effects are spectacular, and the wrapped up in the story lines will keep you on the edge of your seat! Batman Vs. Darth Vader... A Battle Royale We All Want To See!

The battle we have been waiting for!

So crossovers, no matter what the genre for decades have been something that has been really popular for decades... Rather you want to see the crew of the, 'U.S.S. Enterprise' teaming up with the, 'X-Men', or if you want to see Ash fight just about every big bad movie villain to have come out in the last 30 years!  Fans have wanted it... And mostly in written form they have gotten it!
Well a few months ago I was looking around at videos on youtube and I found a video of the evil, 'Galactic Empire's', 'Dark Lord Of The Sith', 'Darth Vader,' fighting Gotham's own, 'Dark Knight', 'Batman'... And it wasn't some weird mashup, or some one with no budget trying to have some fun... 

This particular video is a total blast, and although it is definitely indie, you could tell that some serious thought, and some serious capital went in to making this the best that it could be, so check it out!

TV Show Of The Month: Wayward Pines

Wayward Pines may look ideal... But it is the only place to be for these people... Rather they like it or not!

So recently I have been digging in to the idea of awarding certain segments of what is promoted on this site what you might call, 'An employee of the month' category... 

What I mean by this, is that each month I like to mention one segment, (a movie, a TV show, or even a video game,) etc... That has truly gone above and beyond the call... 

And speaking of TV series... I thought that this month I would elect to put: 'Wayward Pines' as Hellinspace's, 'TV Show Of The Month! 

Now this show may only be a mini-series that is coming to it's end, but this show is a scary portrayal of a man who gets stuck in what looks like the, 'idyllic' town... Only to find out that there is a lot more to the town then anyone could have expected!

The World Wants Star Trek Back On TV

This cast may have started the phenomena, but now the world wants them back!

That's right folks, the franchise which started out on TV, and was later exported to the big screen in the late 70s in an effort to give the fans what they wanted, has been off the air since a moratorium was put on making new Star Trek TV series due to the lack of success of: Star Trek: Enterprise...

Well with the ten year anniversary coming up of the, 'moratorium', it looks the the desire for a new series to come back to the small screen has come to a feverish pitch, what with some of the original cast members from the older series making mention of the fact that they would either like to see a new series, or to revisit there old characters back on the air (including Michael Dorn (Who played, 'Worf' in both: Star Trek The Next Generation & Star Trek Deep Space Nine, working on a new series based around his character.)

It looks like Star Trek's, 'Michael Dorn' is trying to bring Worf back to the small screen!

And now it looks like according to: Digital Spy, with interest acoming from Bryan Fuller (Hannibal), and Battlestar Galactica's, 'Ronald Moore' expressing interest in bringing the series back to the small screen, that CW's President, 'Mark Pedowitz' has also expressed interest in seeing the show come back to the small screen!

Now before I go on, I should probably tell you that UPN used to own the programming rights to make new series on their channel, but when UPN went out of business the programming was shifted to CW.

Anyway, here is what Mr. Pedowitz had to say about making a new Star Trek series, "As a life-long Star Trek fan, I would hope to have Star Trek at The CW," Pedowitz told press at the TCA winter press tour. "[But] I have heard no discussion about it going out as a TV series at all."

Here's hoping...

The Top Three Sci-Fi TV Series Have One Thing In Common

What can Star Trek and Stargate have in common with this motley crew?

That's right folks, and if you haven't already guessed it, there is one thing that Star Trek, Stargate & Battlestar Galactica all have in common...

That being rather directly or indirectly all of them in some way have to do with ancient pagan religions!

I doubt you would have thought that you would have heard these prolific science fiction shows used in that way... But it is quite true!

One of things that Star Trek, Stargate & Battlestar Galactica have in common is in the shows some of the characters worship pagan gods like, 'Ares' God Of War!

Lets take the most obvious one first, let's talk about Stargate...

Apophis (Played by: Peter Williams), is an example of one of the more famous ancient gods that played a prominent role in Stargate SG1

Stargate was a series that more so than the rest of the shows that I am about to mention, heavily utilized the ancient gods, but in this case the ancient gods were actually a parasitic race that forced human hosts to enslave ancient humans, and in the beginning of the series are the race that modern mankind fights against!

And now Battlestar Galactica... In this show they may not actually show the deities... But Battlestar Galactica has to do with an ancient but technologically advanced race that was the predecessor of mankind on Earth.

Now this race followed the Greek Gods.

Commander Sisko confronting a Bajoran spiritual leader... The Bajoran religions having similar attributes to ancient Roman worship.

And finally with Star Trek... Now this one is a little bit different... You see, this series does not actually have characters that do follow the ancient human deities...

But with the series following certain elements of mankind through out time (I,e... The Romulan Star Empire, being modeled off of the, 'Roman Empire',) A lot of Star Trek's alien races religions follow elements of the ancient deities on Earth.

Spock And Dr. McCoy, Friend And Foe

Spock & Dr. McCoy... In there case, being opposites really have seemed to make them friends!

In Star Trek, still one of the most famous friendships in the history of the series is the friendship between Captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner), Dr. Leonard (Bones) McCoy (DeForest Kelley) & Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy)... As a matter of fact, through out the original series and the first three movies, these characters were more then just friends... You could go so far as to say that they were almost like brothers.

Well one side of the friendship, a side that has always been a little difficult for the characters I imagine, but has provided an unending source of amusement for fans of the first Start Trek series, is the rough friendship that Dr. McCoy and Mr. Spock had!

The really are friends!

What I mean by this is that these two characters tended to be polar opposites of each other (i,e... Dr. McCoy was the more emotional one, and Spock was always cool and calculated...) Well this led to an ending stream of oft times humorous (albeit short,) arguments, that was often stopped by Captain Kirk....

The reason that I mention this is because I thought that you  guys might enjoy some of the finer moments of these fights between two friends whose friendship would literally span space and time!

Please Bring Battletoads To The Big Screen

These Toads ruled on the small screen and would on the.big.screen as well!

You know there has been a lot of video games over the years that have been made in to some pretty fun movies... And well, there have also been some pretty lousy movies that have been made from video games as well, but with this series of blogs talking about certain Video Games, or Cartoons or what have you, that should finally be turned in to a movie, I am hopping to bring awareness to filmmakers eventually about the pluses of finally making these movies!

And for my latest one, I wanted to talk about, 'Battletoads'... A classic series that should have been brought to the big screen!

Now for  those of you that don't know what Battletoads are, they started off initially as a cartoon about a group of kick-ass Toads that can also fight crime... as well turn back in to their alter ego (three School aged kids!)

By day, a bunch of children, by night crime fighting Toads!

Now since then, this cartoon has been turned in to at least a couple of freaking awesome video games, as well as other forms of media!

As for the reason that I think you the filmmaker should finally make this movie, is because this series enjoyed a lot of popularity when it first came out, it almost certainly would again... And for the studios... Well let's be honest, the more popular the movie is, the more money you are going to make!

So in the end I must ask, 'Please Bring Battletoads To The Big Screen'!

Four Horror TV Series That Would Be Great For The Horror Fan OnChristmas 2014

Now every year I have tried to give some recommendations for some classic entertainment in the horror/science fiction variety that people might enjoy if they happen to be alone for the Holidays... Usually these items are emblematic of the spirit of the season... But the truth is, is as far as I know, there are no Horror based TV series that revolve around Christmas exclusively... But these still apply rather nicely I do believe! So for those alone during the holiday season, I hope this helps!

Technology From Movies That Scientists Are Working On Developing ForThe Real World

Someday... This could be a reality!

I don't know if I have told you guys this, but besides being a huge horror and science fiction fan, I am also a huge fan of technology! I mean if used correctly and appropriately, technology can benefit every one the world over, as well as make sure that the planet we live on is still the planet we live on!

With all of that said, I have noticed myself as time has gone on that there has been a very fascinating turn in inventions... That is that at least some inventors have headed in to the realm of, 'Science Fiction' or more directly to Movies and TV Shows when it has come to some of the inventions that these geniuses are working on!

A great example of this is the, 'Tricorder', now this is a device that was originally created as part of the TV/Movie series, 'Star Trek', it is a hand held scanning device that scan through just about anything that it has on record! Now this device once created in the real world, will have far reaching applications! It will revolutionize everything from, 'Science' to, 'Security' and even to, 'Medicine'... And you know what? Scientists are working hard to make it happen!

Seen at the top left hand corner is a tricorder that you could say is the first evolution of what will later become a fully functional real world tricorder that is on par with Star Trek!

As a matter of fact Qualcomm currently has one of their Xprizes listed for some one who has built a legitimate, 'Tricorder', and there is even an entire project dedicated to it's invention... And where as it is true, the Tricorder inherently has been invented... We are not quite at Star Trek level... But considering what is out there now... Forget about it! A huge evolutionary leap!

But there is so much more! I mean the Military is working with making robotic replacement limbs for  disabled Soldiers that have lost a limb in combat that as time goes on seem to be headed more and more toward becoming more like the robotic replacement that Luke Skywalker had from, 'Star Wars', then just the more customary prosthetic!

And I have also recently heard that NASA is beginning to look in to the potential for Warp Drive as well!

The last one that I thought that I would mention here is, 'Teleportation'... Now I will be honest with you guys and say that when I first heard about this, I was pretty certain that this would never happened besides who would want to get their atoms scrambled anyway... Right?

Well the exciting news is that Scientists have been working for years to crack the code that may some day make, 'Planes', 'Trains' &  'Automobiles' obsolete!

There is so much more that I could say on this subject, but I thought that these might be a few things that might wet your whistle... And where as it maybe true that we may not be, 'Boldly Going Where No Man Has Gone Before'... Yet, but with the progress that Science is making... You never know!

TV Shows This Halloween

It's The Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown... Not just fun for the kids... But fun for the whole family on Halloween!

I am going to say this... For awhile there, I was starting to get a little concerned with the direction that TV was taking with all of the useless reality shows that TV was putting on the air... But fortunately, TV has really begun to become TV again... They may still be churning out Reality Shows and the like, but a lot of TV is going back to the type of programming that made TV great from the beginning (such as regular shows!)

And with that in mind, there is a lot of great TV shows out there past and present and that would be great this Halloween!

What I mean by this is that such awesome shows as, 'Supernatural' are out there ready to be watched, but also recently we have seen such shows as: 'The Walking Dead', 'Sleepy Hollow' and other such great current shows come back on the air, as well as in the last few months we have seen Netflix bring back, 'Hemlock Grove'!

Supernatural... maybe not to great for the kiddies this Halloween, but definitely for the adults!

But before you go in to just watching current shows this Halloween, I thought that I would remind you guys of some of the classic out there!

I mean if you are looking for a black and white classic to enjoy with the kiddies... Well you can't go wrong with shows like: 'The Munsters', A show about a Frankenstein's monster, his bride, their Werewolf son, their normal niece, and their Vampire Grandfather, and the normal all-American lives they lead!

Now that show came out in the 60s, and if you are looking for other great's from that era, don't forget, 'The Twilight Zone', I mean as a Horror/Sci-fi show, this show has had some truly terrifying episodes, and some truly heartwarming episodes as well!

The Munsters... A great all American family that looks like it came straight out of a universal monster movie... Still a fun one for the whole family for Halloween! 

And now lets jump ahead to the 1980s shall we, with: Friday The 13th: The Series!

Now this series only has a very small connection to the movie series, but in this series, it tells the story of 2 cousins who end up inheriting an antique shop from one of their relatives... Now this shop used to sell cursed items, and along with the help of a friend of the relative's, the 2 cousins and the friend set out on a quest to take back the items before they could do to much more harm!

And with that said, let's jump ahead to the 90s with: Buffy The Vampire Slayer!

Buffy The Vampire Slayer... A blast from the past, but still as much fun as when it was new!

Now this show, which told the story of a teenage girl and her friends as they are trying to have normal lives during the day, and are fighting the forces of evil during the evening is another great one for Halloween that I suspect is still inspiring the next generation of horror shows!

Now in the end, rather you are looking at watching something that is still on the air, or are going to check up on netflix for some of these older TV series (which they mostly are there,) this list should give you a spo0oktastic good time!

Five Classic Crossovers Between The Literary World And TV

What I mean by this guys is that over the years it has been well established that authors that have made their careers writing novels, have also some times made the crossover to both Movies and TV shows... A great example of this is, 'Stephen King'... Now Stephen King... A large portion, if not everything he has ever written that has been published has been turned in to a movie (and some of them have been remade a couple of times now!)

But where as the movies have been covered pretty nicely, the work that they have done for actual TV shows (not TV movies) has not been as heavily explored, and so I thought that you guys might find these Five examples to be pretty awesome!

At number 5: R.L. Stine (The Nightmare Room).

R.L. Stine helped create horror novels that kids can enjoy as well!

At number 4: Richard Matheson (The Twilight Zone).

Richard Matheson... A legend in the field of written horror!

At number 3: Ray Bradbury (The Ray Bradbury Theatre).

Ray Bradbury... One of the most prolific Science Fiction writers of all time! 

This guy wrote for a lot of the Horror/Science Fiction TV series in the 50s/60s, but the one that I thought that you guys would be interested in is this clip from: the Ray Bradbury Theatre!

At number 2: Dean R. Koontz (CHiPs).

Dean R. Koontz... A master of written horror!

Believe it or not, this author who is famous for the horror novels has only written one episode of A TV show, and that is: CHiPs... Unfortunately there does not appear to be a clip available that he wrote, but for your pleasure, the TV intro to: CHiPs!

At number 1: Stephen King (The X-Files).

Stephen King has written for a lot of mediums including books, movies, and TV series as well!

Stephen King had written a lot in a lot of different mediums, but the one that I wanted to mention here is when he wrote the episode, 'Chinga' from: The X-Files:

Five Saddest Losses On The Rebooted Doctor Who Series

Star Trek and Doctor Who are two of the longest running TV series of all time...

Doctor Who... As far as a Science Fiction show goes, this show has three things that I would definitely say is definitely similar to that of, 'Star Trek'... That being the fact that both shows have been entertaining audiences since the 60s, ('Star Trek' being an American science fiction show that started airing in 1966, and Doctor Who being a British science fiction show that started airing in 1963.)

Besides having both had their starts in the 60s, both of these shows also had long hiatuses, (Doctor Who had it's hiatus really from the time of the TV movie in 1996, until the new TV series in 2005 (The reason that I say this like this, is because I know that the Doctor showed up in other media during this time, just not on his series,) as for Star Trek... Well Star Trek had it's hiatus after the bomb of, 'Enterprise', and the horrible nature of Star Trek: Nemesis (2002)!)

The last thing that I thought that I would mention here that they have in common is the fact that both have been rebooted in the new millennium (Doctor Who was rebooted in 2005, and Star Trek was rebooted in 2009!)

Star Trek & Doctor Who... Two amazing shows/movies that maintained themselves quite well!

With that said, and with the reboot about to hit it's first decade, I thought that you guys might enjoy these: 'Five Saddest Losses On The Rebooted Doctor Who Series'... Not the most uplifting... But still some great moments in the show:

At number 5: Donna Noble's departure from the Doctor's life:

Let's be honest here guys, as a companion, Donna Noble (Played by: Catherine Tate) may not have been everyone's favorite... I know that for me, her entrance was definitely a swing and a miss, and she may have been one of the shortest series regular companions of the series, but she did make a difference... And in the end, her departure was sad... If anything thanks in large part to the work of the amazing talent that played Donna, her family, and of course the work of: David Tennant (He played the Tenth Doctor.)

At number 4: The Doctor looses his daughter:

Tenth Doctor, Donna Noble & The Doctor's recently created, 'Jenny.'

Unfortunately the character of, 'Jenny' (Played by: Georgia Moffett) never had the chance to really turn in to something... This is a shame, because I suspect if she had the chance, that she may have turned in to something that could have been a lot of fun... But well she had a lot of good moments in the episode she was in, and well, her ending was brilliantly created thanks to the work of the, 'Tenth Doctor' (played by: David Tennant'), and Georgia Moffett, and the strong emotions that they did a great job of bringing to the moment!

If you're like me, then one of the things that you liked about the earlier years of Doctor Who, was when David Tennant was playing, 'The Doctor'... Don't get me wrong, both Christopher Eccleston (Thor: The Dark World) and Matt Smith (Lost River), but David Tennant really brought to the world of, 'Doctor Who', a unique time, when the show just rocked, with a network of amazing story lines that all ultimately converged on to the main story line... And As for his talent... David Tennant brought to the role a character that you really felt for in worst of times, rooted for in the darkest of times, and enjoyed in the best... And lets be honest, the chemistry between The Doctor, and Rose Tyler's mother is just hilarious!

Now this one was a tough one to decide,  the truth is, is it was a tough one between this one and what came up for number 1... I mean the show runners did a truly awesome job in not just making The Doctor, Amy (Played by: Karen Gillan) & Rory (Played by: Arthur Darvill) friends, but they made them family... So when Amy & Rory were written out of the show, it was just as sad as in the same way when the Tenth Doctor lost Rose (Played by: Billie Piper) to the other dimension...

And speaking of number 1: Rose first getting trapped in the alternate universe.

Rose Tyler [Played by: Billie Piper)... As far as actors and characters go, Rose Tyler and Billie Piper are to Doctor Who, what Spock and Leonard Nimoy (Invasion Of The Body Snatchers) are to Star Trek...

I know that may seem like a weird comparison, so let me explain... As the original series of Star Trek goes, and to Trekkies in general, William Shatner (Kingdom Of The Spiders) was one of the biggest characters/Actors in Star Trek... And still is! Well if William Shatner/Captain Kirk is one of the biggest leads in Star Trek history, then Leonard Nimoy/Spock, as the character/actor who plays Kirk's friend, maybe one of the biggest sidekicks of all time...

Well in that vein, Rose Tyler as the Doctor's companion, is still considered to be one of the best companions that the Doctor ever had, and with that, has made Rose Tyler one of the most famous actresses in, 'Who' history... And the last episode that Rose Tyler as a series regular was not just played brilliantly by both David Tennant and Billie Piper, but was also sad for the fans of the character and the actress as well!
