Forge Of Empires (2013) - #Video #Game #Review

A fantastic game!

Ok, so I will be honest and say here, that I freaking love strategy based games that take place over the eons! And there are a ton of great ones!

For me though, my favorite has to be the, 'Civilization' series so far! I mean you literally get to play as one of of the famous world leaders in history, and then bring up your, 'civilization' throughout history, through war, and peace to the modern time and beyond!

There is another game that I have recently found that is pretty similar, and that game is, 'Forge Of Empires' (2013)!

Playing in the middle ages is awesome!

Now before I continue on, let me say this, InnoGames (The people who make Forge Of Empires,) do an amazing job at making turn base strategy games! And this one is no different!

You see, the idea behind this game is to build your city through out the stone age, and through to a future era, fighting wars, and taking over territory etc...

Now of course like all of InnoGames games, this game does actually have one flaw. At some point you do have to end the game and wait for hours to be able to play it again. But if you like these types of games, then check this one out, it is well worth

Earthworm Jim And The Battletoads: A Couple Of Forgotten Heroes Of TheWorld Of Video Games

We all know about the modern heroes of the world of video games, I mean who doesn't know of, 'Master Chief' from Microsoft's popular, 'Halo' video game series... And if you are a little bit older, I am sure you guys will remember, 'Sonic the Hedgehog' from the famous Sega series,  or, ' Mario' from Nintendo's legendary, 'Super Mario Bros.' franchise... (All though I will admit that Mario is as much a modern day hero as any of the rest of them!)

But I thought that I would go back through the decades here and I thought it would be fun to talk about two in particular that I personally, I think you will agree, should be brought back to prominence!

Let's get started!

At number 1: Earthworm Jim

Earthworm Jim, now here is a game that has been ported from just about all the great video game systems of the last 20 years or so, and has been also on Computer as a Computer game!

At number 2: The Battletoads... A popular set of heroes that had games on just about all of the famous video game systems of the era (Nintendo/Famicom, the Amiga, The Sega Genesis, Gameboy, Game Gear, and that is just to name a few!)

There are a ton more, these two in particular I decided to mention because... I mean lets be honest here, they are pretty awesome, and almost completely forgotten!

Wolfenstein 3D (1992) - Video Game Review

This  one I am going to say is probably one of your more non-traditional horror video games... I mean it is not entirely a horror video game in an of itself... But I thought that I would do it because of it's horrific overtones, and that video game is... Wolfenstein 3D (1992)!

Now before I continue with this, I should also say this, I haven't played the first two games, but as it turns out, this game is the third in the franchise... And although it is true that this maybe the first and only game in the series that I have played, it is still one of those first person shooter games, that well... back int he early 1990s was truly impressive!

Wolfenstein 3D... A classic from the early 90s!

You see, this game, which was initially developed by: Id Software & Published by: Apogee Software, told the world a truly fun story that you as the player got to play through... You see, in this game you play an American/Polish Secret Agent during world war 2... During this time you fight through one level after the other battling all sorts and kinds of big baddies that the Nazi's will throw at you!

In the end, if anything... For nostaligc purposes, the game is surely worth playing, but I tried it a few years ago when I found out that I could download on it on to my XBox 360... And in all honestly... The controls were hard to work with... To the point where for me, it made the game no where near as fun as it used to be... Either way, it is worth trying if you get a chance!

Quake (1996) - Video Game Review

Back in the day, before Microsoft came out with the XBox series of console based video games, computer games were the only way to play games on Microsoft products... And back in the early 90s, the world of computer gamming was really starting to become a major player in the, 'gamming community'... I mean games like 'Doom' and 'Duke Nukem' were really starting to make waves... (So much so, that most of these type of first person shooters would end up being adapted for the video game consoles of the day...)

But there was one game that had grabbed the attention of me my friends, so much so that this game (at least for a while would replace playing regular video games...) That game being, 'Quake' (1996)!

A true classic!

Originally developed by Id Software, and released for the PC Computer, this awesome horrific video game would go on to be released for Mac, as well as the, 'Amiga', 'Linux', 'Sega Saturn' and 'Nintendo 64,' and would tell the story of how in the single-player game, the player takes the role of a protagonist known as Ranger who was sent into a portal in order to stop an enemy code-named "Quake". The government had been experimenting with teleportation technology and developed a working prototype called a "Slipgate"; the mysterious Quake compromised the Slipgate by connecting it with its own teleportation system, using it to send death squads to the "Human" dimension in order to test the martial capabilities of Humanity.

The sole surviving protagonist in "Operation Counterstrike" is Ranger, who must advance, starting each of four episodes from an overrun human military base, before fighting his way into other dimensions, reaching them via the Slipgate or their otherworld equivalent. After passing through the Slipgate, Ranger's main objective is to collect four magic runes from four dimensions of Quake; these are the key to stopping the enemy later discovered as Shub-Niggurath and ending the invasion of Earth.

This weapon sure does have some stopping power!

In the end, one of the cool  things that I have found about this game, is that it is not just with this game but with a lot of the first person shooters of that era is that they are truly the ancestors of the games that most people enjoy! Also another thing that I thought was personally cool about this game directly is the fact that this game... Well to say the least, this is one of those game that you don't want to be playing on a dark and stormy night!

Doom (1993) - Video Game Review

You know I remember the good ole days when Computer games were just on the verge of coming in to there own age of prominence, with such games as, 'Hexen: Beyond Heretic' (1995), 'Heretic' (1994), 'Duke Nukem' (1991), and just a whole bunch of other amazing shooter games!

But there was one that I remember just enjoying for hours on end, As a matter of fact this was the first Computer game I ever owned on the first computer I ever owned and that is, 'Doom' (1993)!

Developed by: Id Software & Nerve Software, this awesome classic told the story of a Space Marine who ends up fighting his way through hordes of Demons and what not from hell!

You know, in my opinion, this game was well before it's time, the reason being is that nowadays, the first person shooter motif platform is pretty standard in both Computer Games and Video Games, but the truth is, is that when this video game first came out, first person shooters were pretty uncommon.

And you know what? You could tell that this new mode of play was pretty rare, if anything by the style in which the game was created... I mean you could tell what the game was going for, and it was a total blast, and in all truth, I suspect that this game would help serve as the template for how alot of the first person shooters were modeled... The problem is, is that at this point, the game is still fun, but it is a dinosaur and looses some of nuances that made it great 21 years ago... And doesn't end up standing well against some of the modern first person shooter games.

In the end though, this game is worth trying if you are an enthusiast, or if you are looking for a fun walk down memory lane, other wise... It probably is worth skipping...
