Four Summer Camp Slashers That You'll Never Forget!

Sleepaway Camp (1983)... A great example of a fun Summer Camp slasher film!
Summer Camp, a time for young men and women to get a taste of the great outdoors, to run, to play... And even in some cases, for a boy or girl to find his or her's first love... That is the sappy hallmark version of it... But we fright fans know how Summer Camps can become a, 'bloody' good time... Don't we?

That's right folks, where as it is true that the whole summer camp experience is generally a time for kids on summer vacation to have fun in the great out doors, Hollywood has turned this time honored tradition in to mayhem and bloody violence, with some of the most famous slasher movies of all time being set in and around the Summer Camp setting...

So I thought that you guys might enjoy these Five Summer Camp Slashers That You'll Never Forget!

At number 4: Friday The 13th (1980):

This counselor will never forget his Camp experience!
Friday The 13th (1980)... Now here is a classic example of a great Summer Camp slasher, you see this movie has it all, an unsuspecting group of soon-to-be camp counselors who went up to Camp Crystal Lake to help Steve Christy (The owner of the summer camp,) re-open the camp... Little do they know, a former counselor is ready to take out her anger on a new generation of counselors!

For more information on this movie, please enjoy the trailer for: Friday The 13th (1980):

With number 3: Sleepaway Camp (1983):

How would you like to have her in your Summer Camp?
You might be wondering why I mentioned this twice? Well the truth is, is I kind of had to... I had no choice... I mean i was compelled to do so, because in all honesty, this movie is not only a great 80s Summer Camp slasher, but in all honesty, and in a lot of respects, this movie helped set the tone for a lot of the the 80s Summer Camp slasher movies out there!

For more information on this movie, please enjoy the trailer for: Sleepaway Camp (1983):

Next up, at number 2: Friday The 13th Part 2 (1981):

Just when you thought it would be safe to go back to Camp!
Following in the same vein with Friday The 13th (1980), I thought that I would mention part 2 primarily because in all honesty, the two movies just fit perfectly! Don't get me wrong, I mean the rest of the series fits in with these 2 movies as well, but the truth is, is the first two movies, when they came out, the series was new, and so the story hadn't started to get watered down yet...

For more information on this movie, please enjoy the trailer for: Friday The 13th Part 2 (1981):

And with number 1, we have: The Burning (1981):

It looks like Cropsy is about to come out and play!
Now this one is one that my buddy over at AwesomeBMovies.com, Matt Dowling, told me about... This one was actually kind of a fun and interesting story, about a group of kids that accidentally torch a camp caretaker in the past, and years later it looks like he might have come back to get revenge on the campers currently enjoying there experience at the camp that he used to work at!

Another interesting thing is that famous actors: Jason Alexander (Seinfeld) and, Holly Hunter (The Firm) play roles in this movie, early in their careers!

The Mixtape... A Fun Addition For A Horror/Sci-fi Story

A tape with many uses...
For those of you who were born in the 1990s, I reckon you may not have heard of, 'The Mixtape'... The Mixtape, (later the, 'Mixed CD', I suspect,) was a tape that people recorded songs on to, to give as gifts to other people.

I suspect that there was many reasons why people gave out mixed tapes, (as party favors, or maybe corporate gifts, or for any number of other reasons...) But the most famous one that I know of, (and this one you might recognize from movies, I know that it is the one that I know of for the most part,) that being when a guy gave a girl he was interested in dating a mixed tape of some of the music that would help sway her in the direction of going out with him.

The way to a girl's heart... Through her favorite music?
Now you might be wondering why I am mentioning this...

The reason that I am mentioning this is because one of the reasons I started up this site is because I wanted to help writers in their endeavors to go from being amateur, to professional, and it recently dawned on me, that the concept of the, 'mixtape' could be a great addition in to a story!

Now before I go on, let me say this, in movies the, 'mixtape' seems to be mostly used for, 'romantic comedies', but since this is a site for horror and science fiction, I thought that I would do those...

First off, in horror, there is one salient and recognized truth (no matter what the sub-genre or type of script you are writing,) anything and everything can be a weapon, (just imagine Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees throwing the character's mixtape at him or her as he or she flees.)

Trust me when I say, they could and probably will eventually kill some one with a mixtape!
Next off, lets talk about era... The era of the mixtape, (don't know specifically how long, but I have heard of them as far back as the 80s,) but any of these eras that you place your story in, that has the mixtape in it, is a time period were some of the best modern horror/science fiction movie/books have been written... So it goes without saying that having that in play in some capacity should work pretty nicely...

And lastly, I thought that I would mention here the fact that the concept of the, 'mixtape' can be a story in and of itself... Just think, Videodrome (1983)...

If they could do it, it so can you!
There are other uses for it, but I think you get the point, and I do hope that this helps!

Real Life: Send Me An Angel (1983) - Song Review

Official Score = 3 Devils
Official Score = 3 Devils
Now as far as music goes, I have been pretty blessed with having grown up enjoying a large variety of music from a large variety of genres... What I mean by this, is that my mom generally tended to enjoy more of the synthpop and eventually heavy metal music! My Dad though... He generally tended to be more in to the softer side of music, (Sting and the like...) In the end, I have grown up and developed a taste for a wide variety music...

The reason that I mention this is when I first met a good friend of mine, he introduced me to a song that up to that point I had not heard before, but I have to say that I was so impressed by, that ultimately I ended up becoming inspired to do song reviews based on this song!

This song being: Send Me An Angel (1983) from Real Life's album: 'Heartland'!

Real Life doing, 'Send Me An Angel' live in 2006!
The truth is, is the main reason why I like this song is because this song (which I am convinced is at least to some extent the inspiration from some of the 90s more gothic sounding heavy metal music,) was in itself, one of the first songs I had heard of this type in years, that for a guy like me, (some one who loves surrealism in art,) found this song to be like basically the musical equivalent of a surreal painting!

What I mean by this, is that where as it does have that element of the now mostly dated synthpop s0und, (if your like me, you will find that you do like it though...) Well besides all that, you can tell that this song had a darker impulse in it!

In the end, this song is a blast either way, check it out! I think you might like it!

For the fans, the lyrics for: Send Me An Angel!

Do you believe in heaven above
Do you believe in love.
Don't tell a lie
Don't be false or untrue
It all comes back to you.
Open fire on my burning heart
I've never been lucky in love.
My defences are down a kiss or a frown
I can't sunrive on my own.
If a girl walks in and carves her name in my heart
I'll turn and run away.
Everyday we've all been led astray
It's hard to be lucky in love.
It gets in your eyes
It's making you cry

Don't know what to do
Don't know what to do.
You're looking for love calling heaven above.
Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now.
Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now.
Empty dreams can only disappoint in a room behind your smile.
But don't give up
Don't give up
You can be lucky in love.
It gets in your eyes
It's making you cry
. ..
Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now.
Send me an angel
Send me an angel
Right now
Right now
Right now.

Box Art For The First Five Mario Games Ever

Super Mario bros. is a classic series that helped make, 'Nintendo' what it is today!

Being a fan of art and a fan of video games, I have found that as time goes on, that rather it be in the form of music, or box art, or the like, that the art that has helped to create masterpieces in video games have always been great, and are just getting better! So how befitting it is to showcase some of the great box art that helped make the, 'Super Mario Bros.' The phenomena it is today!

At number 5: Donkey Kong (1981):

A truly classic game!
At number 4: Donkey Kong Jr. (1982):

A fun that probably helped cement, 'Donkey Kong' as a historic video game franchise!
At number 3: Mario Bros. (1983):

This video game saw the brothers working together for the first time!
At number 2: Super Mario Bros. (1985):

This maybe one of the most famous video games ever made!
At number 1: Super Mario Bros 2 (1988):

This game saw the first major update of the series.

5 Classic Japanese Commercials For 5 Classic Video Game Systems

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="427"] Nintendo is one of the most historically relevant video game manufacturers of all time... Most of the video games & consoles that we all grew up with had their beginning largely in Japan![/caption]

You know, most people may not know this, but for most of the 20th century, and even today (although not as much today, as it had been in the past), but Japan was the dominating force behind Video Games and their consoles...

Nintendo is a great example of this... Even though, 'Nintendo' and it's accompanying video games and consoles are all over the world, and are still a dominating force in American Video Gamming... The company was formed in Japan with just about all of the generations of their video games originating in Japan.

Sega is another good example of this, It is true that Sega doesn't really do video game consoles anymore, but they still do video games, and just about all of that also has it's roots in Japan as well!

So I thought that it might be fun to see, 5 Classic Japanese Commercials For 5 Classic Video Game Systems:

Metallica: Seek And Destroy (1983) - Song Review

[caption id="attachment_330" align="alignright" width="220"]Official Score = 2 1/2 Devils Official Score = 2 1/2 Devils[/caption]

You know I will be honest with you guys and say that, 'Metallica' is my favorite band... I mean the way the music is arranged... James Hettfield, Lars Ulrich, Kirk Hammett (and later Robert Trujillo), are just freaking geniuses... The story in their music more often then not is fun... And well I will be honest and say that they work so well together that I have hardly seen it in any other band!

And one of their first albums, 'Metal Up Your Ass'... Later known as, 'Kill 'em All', is pretty spectacular album! I hate to say it, but this album is not in my opinion their best... But for me it definitely rates amongst the top... And I have to admit that the song, 'Seek And Destroy'... Although not my favorite on this album, is only seconded by the fact that I think, 'Metal Militia' may not be far off...

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300"] The cover for the album that has, 'Seek And Destroy On It'![/caption]

Regardless though, this song is fun... Written during the height of the, 'Cold War' era... I think there are probably some strong overtones about the cold war... (I found that in the 80s there was definitely more then a few songs that were inspired by the, 'Cold War'...)

Never the less, the other reason I like this song is the instrumentals... The beats in this song are an awful lot of fun...

Well the truth is, is this is not one of Metallica's better songs, it still is pretty good, and if you get a chance to give it a try, you might find that you like it!

Christine (1983) - Stephen King - Book Review

[caption id="attachment_325" align="alignright" width="263"]Official Score = 3 Devils Official Score = 3 Devils[/caption]

When I was in my last year of High School I got sent to a boarding School in New Mexico... and well lets be honest, it's New Mexico... Don't get me wrong, there is nothing particularly wrong with the state... But when you go from the fast paced world of being a kid in Los Angeles California, to being stuck at a ranch out in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico, there just honestly is not much to do!

Well when I was there, I worked hard to keep myself occupied... I had some friends, I listened to a lot of heavy metal while looking at the stars at night, (Something that you really couldn't do in LA, due to the fact that there really isn't any stars that are visible at night anymore.)

One of the things that I started doing was reading... And trust me when I say that I read, 'ALOT'... If I had to guess, I probably read close to 30 novels in the 3 months that I was there.

Now to some, that may sound dull, but I actually really enjoyed it, there is one novel in particular that I found that I really got hooked on during the last few days that I was at the boarding school, and that was Stephen King's, 'Christine'!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="197"] A truly awesome novel![/caption]

This novel (which would later be turned in to a movie ), told the story of how a nerd by the name of, 'Arnie Cunningham' wanted a status symbol to call his own and got it in the old clunker, 'Plymouth Fury' that he would fix up... And end up getting more then just the car!

You see, after the car is fixed up, a mysterious series of deaths begin to plauge Arnie and the small town upon which he is from... And as the body count begins to rise, Arnie will discover that not only does Arnie love his new car, but his new car loves him back!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400"] A scene from the 1983 movie, 'Christine' featuring: Arnie Cunningham (Keith Gordon) inside, 'Christine'...[/caption]

In the end, what I liked most about this story is how all this nerd really wanted to do was step out from the shadow of his best friend, 'Dennis', and be recognized for being more then just some one to be picked on, and for girls to laugh at... But in so doing, ends up heading down the path toward destruction!

This novel is worth it, and if you get a chance, I hope you find the same thing as well!

In Remembrance Of Sega's Home Console Systems

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="685"] Sonic The Hedgehog... One of the most popular games that Sega ever released![/caption]

You know, if you have been playing video games for as long as I have, then I am sure that you have played on a fair amount of systems, everything from the old, 'Atari' systems all the way up to such systems as the, 'Nintendo DS', the, 'X-Box 360' and if you are lucky, the, 'X-Box 1.'

Well there is one video game system that when I was a kid that I found to be just a total blast, A video game system that helped me realize that there was more to gamming then just what was on the, 'Nintendo' a system that to this day I still believe is something that has helped to define my gamming interests, and that system is the, 'Sega Gensesis'!

Sadly, Sega would close down it's console development when they stopped making home consoles after the demise of the, 'Dreamcast.'

But before the death of Sega's video game consoles, they came out with a ton of truly amazing systems that played a lot of classic (and in some cases, 'historic') video games, including their flagship game,  'Sonic The Hedgehog' (1991). So I decided to a little memorial for those classic home console systems, that we all remember enjoying when we were kids was in order!

The first one of course being the. SG 1000 cartridge based home console system that Sega released back in 1983...

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="600"] An ad for Sega's first home console system the, 'SG-1000' a system that never saw the light of day in the United States.[/caption]

This one I will admit was a bit before my time, but this system, which was released on July 15, 1983, (Released the same day as, Nintendo's, 'Family Computer' (the forerunner of North America's NES).) This system was release to only moderate success, and was never actually launched in North America or in the UK...

In 1984 Sega would release an update to the SG-1000 called the, 'SG-1000 II'.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300"] Sega's, 'SG-1000 II', while functioned essentially the same as the SG-1000 it really only looked newer...[/caption]

With primarily just cosmetic changes, (I,e. The place to plug in the SK-1100 keyboard being moved from the back to the front of the machine, and the shell being changed,) this console basically functioned the same as it's predecessor... The only other difference is that the Japanese version of the SG-1000 II had a game card reader called a, 'Game Catcher' that used Sega Card technology to read these cards (At the time, game cards were only utilized in systems in Japan.)

Sega would also go on to make a computer that was compatible with the SG-1000 video games... But in 1985 Sega would produce it's first system that would truly launch it in to the world of gaming... That system being the Sega Mark III or, 'Sega Master System'.

[caption id="attachment_2070" align="aligncenter" width="450"]The Sega Master System... One of the first truly remarkable video game systems that I believe made, 'Sega' a powerful force in the video game world! The Sega Master System... One of the first truly remarkable video game systems that I believe made, 'Sega' a powerful force in the video game world![/caption]

Now this system was truly an amazing system... I mean I only had the opportunity to play a game on this system once some time around the late 80s - early 90s when I happen to be at my cousin's house (who happened to have one,) and I was so hooked that I believe I played it for almost the entire time I was there... needless to say this system was comparable to North America's, 'NES' and although I don't really remember what games were on here, I remember that I had just as much fun playing with that as I later would with my Nintendo!

At this point Sega's video game consoles were starting to get closer and closer to their, 'Sega Gensesis' console, and the next one here is, Sega Master System II.

[caption id="attachment_2072" align="aligncenter" width="450"]At this point in the game, not only had Sega become a direct competitor, but they had begun to out stripe Nintendo, due to the larger availability! At this point in the game, not only had Sega become a direct competitor, but they had begun to out stripe Nintendo, due to the larger availability![/caption]

In the end, this system did so well, that due to it's larger availability, it had begun to out due Nintendo's, 'NES' due to it's wider availability!

Now for the next one on the list (and a personal favorite of mine), The, 'Sega Genesis'!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400"] The, 'Sega Genesis' probably one of the most memorable video game systems that was released in the 1990s![/caption]

Known as the, 'Sega Mega Drive' outside of the U.S., this video game system, which would be released in 1988 and later around the world, would become the most successful video game system that Sega ever produced. This video game system,  which released the world wide phenomena, 'Sonic The Hedgehog', would be released 2 years before Nintendo's, 'Super Nintendo', and was so popular that between the 2 systems, there would launch the first real fierce competition war between the 2 systems and companies that would really last through out the 16 bit era of video gamming!

In 1991 in Japan, Sega would go on to release the first real CD based console gaming system called the, 'Sega Mega Drive CD' and then later in 1992 would release it for North American distribution under the label: 'Sega CD'

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400"] This add on to the Sega Genesis would bring video gamming to an even higher level![/caption]

Personally I played this add on at a friends house in the mid 90s, and where as it did have it's usefulness, it was not one of those systems that had games that particularly jumped out at you... I personally fell like the best thing about this system is what the system brought to the history of, 'home console systems'.

The next one, and I will be honest with you guys, was another system I have only played a handful of times... Fun but not great... That was the, 'Sega 32X'.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="432"] The Sega 32X.[/caption]

I will be honest and say that this add on to the Sega Genesis was for me not particularly thrilling... I would say that probably the best thing about this system is that it brought the graphics level up to 32bit... But to me, the games weren't particularly memorable...

Sega Neptune... I will be honest with you guys and say that I personally never played it... (Hell I never heard of it till now...) And apparently not a lot of people would have heard about it... You see, this system was supposed to be the hybrid version of both the, 'Sega Genesis' and the, 'Sega 32X'... But after a delay, and the closing of the Sega 32X line... The Sega Neptune just became one of the systems that never was...

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="390"] The Sega Neptune... A console that died before it had the chance to live.[/caption]

The Sega Saturn... Have you ever enjoyed something for so long that you just knew that there was no where left to go after this? Well the truth is, this system was that for me!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="480"] One of the last truly great systems to be released by, 'Sega' before it stopped making consoles...[/caption]

Released in 1995, and going in to direct competition with Nintendo again, and Sony, (who shortly would be releasing the first, 'Playstation',) this system never had the traction to keep up with the competition, and in all truth, like all great things, the dynasty that Sega had setup for itself was beginning to falter... Although I will be honest with you and say that I was a fan...

The next one up is the un-released, 'Sega Pluto'.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="640"] Supposedly this was to be the prototype for the new, 'Sega Pluto'.[/caption]

Not much is known about the systems or the games that would have come out... but supposedly this system was supposed to be a direct update to the, 'Sega Saturn' and if released, probably would have been the first system to offer internet access!

Sega Dreamcast... Now this truly was the last home console that Sega has released to date...

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="580"] Released as precursor to the coming systems such as, 'Playstation 2' and the like that had taken a technological leap ahead of the rest... Sega's final system had been at first a success... That was until tragedy struck![/caption]

When the Sega Dreamcast had been released, it had started off doing well... But when the new systems such as the, 'Playstation 2', which could support, 'DVD's', Sega ended up realizing that they could no longer keep up and ended up discontinuing their home video game unit...

In the end folks, Sega's video game systems maybe gone but they are never forgotten!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="300"] R.I.P. Sega's Home Video Game Consoles (1983 - 2001).[/caption]

Flagship Video Games And Their Importance To The Systems They Help Sustain

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="470"] 'Halo'... A classic video game that has proven to be a, 'flagship game' for Microsoft's, 'XBox' video game consoles![/caption]

Over the decades now there have been quite a few video game systems and a slowly growing number of companies that are producing these systems that have such relevance in the pop culture of that time... But what is it that holds their sustainability as well as it does? What keeps throngs of people of most ages coming back for more? Well I am going to have to say that it is the flagship game that is keeping these systems and the companies that build them afloat...

What is a flagship game you ask?

Well simply put, in the Navy a flagship is a ship that distinguishes itself from the rest, (you know, bigger, faster, stronger, or whatever,) and a.'Flagship Video Game' does that for the system it represents, and is so popular that it helps cement the company that makes it for life!

A great example of this is, 'Super Mario Bros.' (1983), this game was so popular that it extremely out paced the competition (including the original, 'Donkey Kong' game, a game which was the first to ever to feature a, 'Mario Bro.')

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="620"] Super Mario Bros. (1983), a game which helped make the, 'Nintendo' video game consoles the consoles they are today![/caption]

Since the release of, 'Super Mario Bros.', Nintendo has been a force not to be messed with, both in Japan, and North America, having outlasted all of the Video Game companies that have come before it, and maintaining itself in the current world of Video Gaming between, 'Sony' (with the, 'Playstation') and, 'Microsoft' (with the XBox)!

And as long as, 'Mario' &, 'Luigi' and the rest of the, 'Koopa Troopa' maintain their popularity amongst fans of almost any age at this point, Nintendo will remain a force not to be messed with for ever!

That was an aged veteran of a Flagship game, I thought that I would mention a newer one that I thought that you guys might find to be interesting, and that is of, 'Master Chief' from the, 'Halo' series, and what that series has done for really the world of gaming in the whole!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="430"] Master Chief as he is about to kick as in the, 'Halo' video game series, A, 'Flagship video game' for Microsoft's, 'XBox' video game consoles![/caption]

You see, at the time that the, 'XBox' was first released it had some very stiff competition... What I mean by that is that this gaming system was released in 2001, during a time in which, 'Playstation' had already proved itself, having just released its second generation system, and had to go up against 2 seasoned vets like, 'Nintendo' and, 'Sega' (both of whom had by this point, several generations of Video Game systems that had been out for decades, and in which Nintendo was currently marketing their, 'Nintendo Game Cube' and Sega, (which unfortunately would end up being on their final video game system,) would be marketing the, 'Sega Dreamcast'...)

Well, the Xbox ended up doing so well, and with their flagship game like, 'Halo' it was no wonder that they were able to survive, and not only did they survive well, but I would personally say that the, 'Xbox' and, 'Halo' are probably the best of their kind to have been released in the millennium!

Unfortunately though, this would knock Sega out of making consoles (which is a shame seeing as their video consoles and the games that went with them were so much fun!) But for many years though, their video game consoles with the help of their Flagship video game, 'Sonic The Hedgehog', were so popular that I would say that they were barely out matched by, 'Super Mario Bros.' and the various Nintendo video game systems that beat them!

If you were born in the 1980s or before, you might remember the good old days, when you used to sit and run all over that Island as, 'Sonic' as you tried to capture the, 'Chaos Emeralds' from the evil, 'Dr. Robotnik' and his goons that were trying to destroy his world on the, 'Sega Genesis' int he video game, 'Sonic The Hedgehog', and some of the successor games and systems in Sega's repertoire of Video game consoles and games of the time!

[caption id="attachment_1743" align="aligncenter" width="450"]Sonic Sonic The Hedgehog is such a popular character and game that even after, 'Sega' stopped making video game consoles, 'Sonic' has still continued on strong![/caption]

As a matter of fact, their Flagship Video game was so popular, that after Sega stopped making video game consoles and switched over to making Video Games for other companies, 'Sonic The Hedgehog' has continued to be an extremely popular character and video game!

So in the end the question is... Does the Video Game Console make gaming fun, or is it the Video Game that makes gaming fun... Well I will say that obviously that the system does help, but in the end I think it is the video game that makes the experience worth it!

Some Awesome Horror Writers And A Novel They Wrote For Halloween 2013

Horror movies are always a staple of the Halloween tradition for those who have finally gotten to the age where trick or treating has lost the merriment that it had when you were a kid... But I thought what with having done a top 5 movie list last year for some great horror movies, I thought that I would take a different turn and take the tradition back to it's roots and do a list of some great classics to read by the fire this year!

So here is my list of the, 'Some Amazing Horror Writers And A Novel They Wrote For Halloween 2013'.

Number 5: Various Writers. Star Trek: Invasion Series...

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="315"] A fun read for the trekkie in your life this Halloween![/caption]

The truth is, is I found this entire series of novels to be extremely engrossing and a hell of a lot of fun... I like how the story involves and takes place over the 4 main generations of star trek (at that time, 'Enterprise' hadn't been released yet). and involved all of them directly! The are not particularly scary... (although I imagine in the right setting, and with the right person they can be...)

Now the only problem I imagine with this series is the fact that unless you are a Star Trek fan, or are expecting a chiller, this probably is not it, but they are a hell of a lot of fun, and are definitely worth reading if you are a trek fan and happen to be home this Halloween!

Number 4: Robert Louis Stevenson for, 'The Strange Case Of Dr. Jekyll And Mr. Hyde (1886),

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="435"] Robert Louis Stevenson - Author.[/caption]

This book... This book was truly something for me... As a matter of fact I think this maybe the story that helped re-ignite my love of the horror genre... I mean this story is the truly classic tale of a kindly scientist who takes his potion and transforms in to a monster!

The truth is, is this tale was told in different variations a lot in the 19th century, but I have to admit that this one was particularly awesome and a classic story that lives on forever. The problem with this novel is the fact that it is also very old and if your not in to that, then you might find this one to be dated and pointless.

The next one that I am mentioning here is one that is a little unorthodox, but it does have it's merit  believe it or not is actually a surprisingly fun novel, which involves Buffy The Vampire Slayer, both in the TV show and the original movie... But in written form, and I personally think that if you are home this Halloween evening, and you are a, 'Buffy' fan, then this is a must...

So with out further adieu, and coming in at number 3 we have: Christopher Golden for, 'Sins Of The Father' (1999).

This one is a fun tale that tells of how Buffy's old flame ends up popping back in to the Slayer's life for one more mission when a rock Demon ends up going after the Slayer, and while a major group of Vampires is chasing down Giles!

And at number 2 we have: Stephen King for, 'Christine' (1983).

Now I will admit that I am a little biased when it comes to Stephen King novels... I mean his books are just an amazing fun time, and since I figure y'all already know how much of a fan I am of his work that I would put this novel in a number 1... (This time I thought that I would give the torch to another amazing works of fiction, and give this one the number 2 spot...)

In all fairness though, Christine, a novel which tells the story of a possessed '58 Plymouth Fury ends up in the hands of a high school kid, and after that, his whole out look begins to change, and it will be up to those friends the car hasn't already killed to save the kid, before the car and the kid become to inseparable!

In truth, maybe not in this category will this book be giving the one the number #1 spot, but it does deserve it! I mean this book is so good, that when I was in Boarding School I ended up reading about half of it in 2 days, and when I was sent home to live with my family again, I went straight out and bought it, and finished the other half within 24 hours!

In the end, this is another truly awesome novel that would be fun to read if you happen to be home alone for this Halloween!

Anne Rice for, 'Interview With The Vampire' (1976).

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="297"] Anne Rice - Author[/caption]

If you haven't read this novel, then let me say that for a horror fan, this book will start you on a series that truly kicks ass!  The style in which Anne Rice introduces her characters, and paints a picture of their lives before they were turned, and after, is nothing short of absolutely one of the better times I had reading!

And Interview With The Vampire, a novel which tells the story of a tortured Vampire who decides to spill the beans to a writer about his personal history is a truly emotional ride, that I think you might both love and hate... And trust me when I say that I rarely find myself getting emotional about books, but this one is just truly awesome!

In the end, if you haven't read this book yet, and happen to be home this Halloween, then check this one out, you might end up really liking it!

Well Fright fans, that's all I got for the time being, but I hope you enjoyed this list, and if you do happen to be home alone this Halloween, then I hope this list helps!

Journey: Separate Ways (Worlds Apart) - (1983) - Song Review

[caption id="attachment_330" align="alignright" width="220"]Official Score = 2 1/2 Devils Official Score = 2 1/2 Devils[/caption]

You know there is a lot of great tunes that have come out of the 1980s... Some might say that, the 80s was one of the last great decades for music... (I don't exactly agree with that myself though...)

Never the less there has been some truly classic bands and songs during this time period, including works from: Metallica, Dokken, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden... And that is just to name a few of the harder music! There have also been some truly awesome softer rock bands as well, including: The Police & Journey to name a few...

And speaking of Journey, I first got in to their work when I discovered through a friend of mine the, 'literal video' craze that had hit youtube a few years ago... I discovered this through the literal video version of Journey's song, 'Separate Ways (Worlds Apart)'... And you know what, despite the fact that this song was truly quite hilarious, I found that I really enjoyed the instrumentals in this song as well and went on a, 'Journey' of my own to try and find it!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="385"] Journey... A truly classic band with some truly classic tunes![/caption]

When I found the song itself, I found that I liked this song even more! The reason being is that I loved the soft rock lyrics that Steve Perry sang, but I also have to admit that I really enjoyed the drumming work of this band!

And considering the fact that this song was made about a year after I was born, I have to admit that I was also really impressed with just how well the song withstood the test of the time!

In the end, Journey was & still is a truly amazing band that is pop-culturally important, and this song in my opinion is probably one of the best songs that they ever did... And that is saying something because they have done more then a few songs in their decades together!
