Official Score = 3 Devils[/caption]The thing about Stephen King and his body of work, is that it is truly terrifying... And in a world that, these days is comprised of people who when writing horror novels, generally seem to lend themselves to, (for some bizarre reason), more young adult novels then they do to the adult world... That is no tall order!
What I mean by this is that I would liken Stephen King to the greats of the literary world, that made Horror the truly insanely awesome works of fiction that to this day inspire horror filmmakers the world over!
And what sets Stephen King apart? Well, I would say that beyond the fact that he keeps his stories chilling and scary, he also keeps the suspense alive for the most part, and as you read on, you tend to draw deeper and deeper in to the story as you begin to get hooked on the characters, and the hope that they make it out of their horrifying existence alive... At least that is how I see it.
And you know what? For the most part, Children Of The Corn (1984) was no different!

Seeing his parent's die at the hands of religious fanatics probably was not on his agenda for the day![/caption]You see this movie tells the story of a town in Nebraska by the name of, 'Gatlin', and how at first this town is just your average everyday small farming community... Until one day when the kids decide to turn their small farming community in to a sort of, 'Shrine' to their new god, 'He Who Walks Behind The Rows'. and slaughters all of the adults!
Anyway, years later a couple by the name of, Burt (Horton) and, 'Vicky' (Hamilton), are passing by close to where, 'Gatlin' is supposed to be, when they end up accidentally running over one of the kids and killing him! So as they make their way in to town to file a report with the authorities, they begin to notice something really off about the town... (i,e. like how there are no adults anywhere, and how the kids appear to have control over the town..)
Well it will be up to Burt and Vicky to stop what is going on, before the children and their new god end up making sure that they're stay in the small town of Gatlin is a permanent one!

He Who Walks Behind The Rows Wants You![/caption]In the end, I have to admit that this movie is a lot of fun, in all truth, it doesn't really go over the top anywhere, which both harms and helps this movie, for example... The special effects were fun, and where as they weren't that type of over CGI'd crap that is still prevalent in a lot of modern day movies... It fortunately wasn't there with this movie... The problem also is, is that there is nothing really uniquely different about these special effects...
But I will say this, all in all, this movie is a fun one, and even though there are certain elements of this movie that are not particularly unique, this is a fun little gem all in all, and if you check it out, I think that you might find this to be a fun little addition to your Friday night fright fest double feature!
