Detective Comics #28 (1939) - #ComicBook #Review

Ok, so... So... so far I have to say that I am really quite impressed with where the Batman series started off with... I mean it is true that this comic had sort of a quiet start by consideration... But even if Batman hasn't started fighting people like, 'The Joker'... It is still pretty awesome! 

You know, you know some of the reasons that this amazing early series is great is not just because it is, 'The Bat-man'... But in truth it is because seeing the humble beginnings are just fun!
And you want to know what? The second issue of this comic book series is just as fantastic!

A fun one!

In the case of this comic... It looks like The Bat-man is going after a crime ring that is robbing filthy rich people! 

Ultimately the best thing about this comic is not so much the series itself, but the imagery... And what I mean by that is that these comics really are inked for their time, and seeing what Bruce Wayne/The Bat-Man is like in the 30s is awesome! 

So check out this issue... It is not the greatest, but it is a ton of fun! 

Comic Book Of The Half: Marvel Zombies #1

Marvel Zombies is a great comic and this one is worth
being the, 'Comic Book Of The Half'!

That's right folks, I am going to have to say that I rather enjoy this series quite a bit, I haven't read the entire series, but this first one set up a fantastic Marvel horror series, with all of your favorite heroes as Zombies! 

So if you want to check out a Marvel comic that could be said to be like, 'The Avengers' and, 'The Walking Dead', then this is definitely one to start off with!

Detective Comics #27 (1939) - #Comic #Book #Review

This is the first comic to feature, 'Batman'! 

Batman... I mean this character is iconic on the same level as Superman, The Avengers, as well as so many more of the comic books that we grew up enjoying, as well as the movies we still currently love! 

I mean rather it is Michael Keaton (Beetlejuice), Val Kilmer (Top Gun) or even Christian Bale (American Psycho) portraying the, 'Batman', this hero has managed to continue to keep audiences not just entertained, but on the edge of their seats as Batman and his side kicks over the years have taken out such awesome villains as, 'Joker', or, 'The Penguin', etc...

With that said, if you are like me, the movie maybe amazing, but you always have to go back to the source... I mean I have seen just about everything from, 'The Avengers', and freaking love all of them! But getting to read the first, 'Avengers' comic was just truly awesome! And the same goes for basically all of the rest of the original first issues that I have read! 

And that is part of the reason why I am glad that I have read, 'Detective Comics #27'... A.K.A. 'The first appearance of, 'The Batman'! 

The first adventures of, 'The Batman'! 

That's right folks, before being called just, 'Batman', or, 'The Dark Knight', Bruce Wayne is still a billionaire who lost his family tragically, but in this case his name is, 'The Batman'... 

And in this first adventure of, 'The Batman', his adventure maybe a little bit more simplistic... You see, our hero has tasked himself with uncovering the murderer of a business man, and the conspiracy that surrounds it! 

I will say that I now understand the wacky costumes that, 'The Batman' some times wears through out the decades... 

With that said, I will say that I did enjoy this comic, but if you are looking for one of the more involved comics that the more modern Batman comics generally tend to be... Well then you may not like this comic... but if you want to see where Batman first came from... Then this is definitely one to enjoy!

Marvel Zombies #2 (2005) - #Comic #Review

Earth's mightiest heroes become earth's deadest heroes in this great alternative story line series!

So when I was a kid I got real heavily invested in reading both Marvel and DC comics of the era. These comics had a ton of both separate, as well as connected story lines that I am going to say were both fun as well as imaginative, and they gave me a nice bit of background to a lot of the comic book movies that have come out in the last 25 years or so!

With that said though, roughly since about the late 90s I kind of left the world of comics until recently... Since coming back to the world of comics I have not only discovered a whole plethora of comics to enjoy, but I have found one particular series that is not just AWESOME! But is very much a comic book series for the times, that comic book series being: Marvel Zombies!

The heroes we all know and love have become a part of the walking dead... I mean how cool is that!

I haven't had a chance to read to many of them yet, but I have read the first two so far, and this maybe strange to say, but as good as the first comic book was, the second one is so much better!

Imagine what the MCU would be if they ended up in a world similar to, 'The Walking Dead'... But with them as the walking dead! 

So far from what I can tell, the story in this series has to do with all of the heroes of that Earth being transformed in to Zombies with some semblance of intelligence, and the acceptance that they are the walking dead, and that they will continue to eat flesh... But what would a race of super-zombies do?

This comic, hell this series, rocks! 

Eat just about everything left on the Earth of course! so when these Zombies are scavenging for the last remnant of humanity and super powered entities, that is of course when Galactus comes to finish off the rest of them... Or maybe vice-versa, and the heroes will finish him off!

I have to admit that so far the only thing that I didn't like is the fact that the majority of the artwork for the Zombies seems to be only that they're lips have rotted away... With a few minor exceptions, that seems to be it!

Anyway, check this one out after you have read the first one, I think that you guys might really like it!

Marvel Zombies #1 (2005) - Comic Review

Alright, so I know it has been awhile since I have written another review... (It's been a busy ride,) but I am glad to be able to get back to writing these blogs/reviews... Because I hope you guys enjoy them as much as I enjoy writing them!

With that in mind I have a special treat for you guys, a marvel comic sub-series that I thought that not only would you guys enjoy, but I thought that with Halloween coming up, that this comic would be extremely appropriate and fun!

That comic book series of course being the, 'Marvel Zombie' series!

A fantastic series!

Now I don't fully know the full story on this series yet being that I have only read the first comic, but it does appear that just about all of the heroes that we have all come to love have become Zombies! (Think, 'The Avengers', 'Spider-Man' and all of the other classics from both the, 'MCU' and Fox's, 'Marvel Universe' if they were zombies!)

Anyway, in the beginning of the comic we see a Zombie Spider-Man, Hulk and A bunch of other Zombified super heroes as they are fighting what seems to be the last surviving mutant on Earth... You guessed... The last hero to survive the mutant holocaust, 'Magneto'!

Thor and the gang about to enjoy a meal, and, 'no' Magneto is not a guest at this meal!

Now the thing with these Zombie heroes is that although it is true that they are undead, they still have the ability to think and act as if they were alive, except that they are dead and have no, 'healing factor' anymore, and their powers seemed to have diminish...

But with Galactus's messenger arriving after the Zombie apocalypse, to try and prepare the planet for his arrival, maybe this Earth is doomed? Or is the Zombie apocalypse really over?

As for this comic, the truth is, is I am not giving it entirely all of the justice it deserves, I mean this comic is pretty brilliant, having started out in the comic book equivalent of a George A. Romero movie, to reading about some of the more hilarious side effects of what these new, 'Zombie Heroes' are up to because they are dead, the comic is just absolutely brilliant!

As a matter of fact, the only real problem that I have with this comic is the fact that it is to short! But if you are a comic fan, an MCU fan, or just a horror fan, or a fan of one of these combinations... Then this comic is one you should check out! I mean it is pretty awesome!

Tales Of Suspense, Featuring: Iron Man (1963) - Comic Review

The original, 'Iron Man' comes to life ready to kick some butt!

This is something I have wanted to do for quite some time and am proud to be finally able to do so... That being, to be able to review and blog about comics! 

I mean considering the type of material that is available from all of the current and previous publishers out there... It just seemed like it would be a natural progression, ya know? 

Anyway, the first one that I thought that I would recommend is the first appearance of, 'Iron Man', with, 'Tales Of Suspense' #39 (1963) featuring the first appearance of, 'Iron Man'!

Now before I go on, let me talk a little bit about the, 'Tales Of Suspense' comic itself... Tales Of Suspense was essentially a subset science fiction comic book series that was published by Marvel Comics from 1959 - 1968, and helped showcase such artists as: Steve Ditko and Jack Kirby, and also featured such heroes as: 'Captain America' and 'Iron Man'... To name a few! 

Now as for the story for the comic... Essentially it tells the story of millionaire playboy, 'Anthony Stark'... He is a genius inventor who has made all sorts of inventions for the U.S. Government and while in Vietnam he is showing the United States military one of his most recent inventions when he is captured by the Warlord, 'Wong-Chu'... 

Tony Stark as he is quickly moving to become, 'Iron Man'!

Now at this point, Tony Stark being wounded is offered the opportunity to save himself with Wong-Chu claiming he will save him if he creates weapons for the evil warlord. 

A huge mistake... Because just like in the movie, this gives Tony Stark the motivation he needs to become the iron guardian, 'Iron Man', and stop this master of disaster! 

In the end, this comic was a lot of fun, I mean I could see part of the reason for the success of the first Iron Man movie (considering how closely they followed the comic, (while giving it a modern spin...) 

Marvel stayed pretty true to the comic book version of the first, 'Iron Man Armor' while giving it that modern spin, don't ya think?

Also I found that I rather enjoyed the way this comic was written... What I mean by this is that this comic being written in the 50s totally had that 50s way of talking which made it a blast from the past! 

In the end, this comic is a blast from the past... But unless you are in to that sort of thing, this may not be for you... But try it... You might find that you actually like it!
