Now I am not talking about the Novels that are based on either series movies... No, no, I am talking about the independent novels out there with their own independent story lines, but yet still bring the same classic characters from both the big and small screens to life in your imagination!
I first discovered this wealth of novels when I was still in School when one year I started getting the Star Trek mini-series of novels titled, 'The Furies'... And you know what? I couldn't put them down!

You see, these novels span about the entire length of the Star Trek universe... It's been a while since I read those novels, but I don't believe that this expanded to the, 'New Frontier' novel series, but told the story of an ancient evil that had ruled over most (if not all) of what is now known in the Star Trek universe as the known Universe, and how they are coming back to take back their kingdom!
(I don't want to spoil the story to much since I plan on doing the reviews for these novels... But since then, reading those books, opened up a vast reservoir of novels that turned out to be truly awesome... And you know what? the same can be said for Star Wars as well!
As for Star Wars... I read a book (I am drawing a blank on the title right now), but in that Universe took place decades after the original movies (and the pre-quel) movies did.... Now that book was the second of another mini-series of the novels... Unfortunately I can't remember the exact story line for this novel, but I remember that I really enjoyed this story quite a bit!

Now at this point you might be wondering what sounds like should be a, 'Pre-teen Star Trek nerds' ultimate fantasy... Well simply put, these books (I haven't read all of them from either series...), but the ones that I have read are an amazing adventure, that gives one another aspect of these characters that have only ever really been seen on either the big screen or the small screen!
As a word of advice to Paramount and Disney (the owners of both franchises), check out these novels... Maybe not all, but you guys could potentially have a wealth of stories for both the big and small screens that you might not have to worry to much for years to come!
And for the rest of the world, these books are fun, and since I have started reading them I haven't regretted reading any of them, and you know what? If you decide to take a chance on them as well, then you might find that you like them as well, I know I did, and have ever since!
