I have to admit that when it comes to sequels, I have found that they are almost never as good as the first movie... That is not to say that they are particularly bad movies by any sense of the imagination... The problem is, is that Hollywood seems to believe that the only way to make a sequel to a movie is to kill off a little bit of what made the story great, and then take what is left and make it splashier... And... Well you know the rest...
Needless to say, one movie that in my opinion is actually better then the first one, (I know... I was pretty shocked as well!) Was, Thor: The Dark World (2013)!
Written by: Christopher Yost (Next Avengers: Heroes Of Tomorrow), Christopher Markus (Captain America: The First Avenger), Stephen McFeely (The Chronicles Of Narnia: Prince Caspian) & Directed by: Alan Taylor (Palookaville). Starring: Chris Hemsworth (The Avengers), Natalie Portman (Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace), Tom Hiddleston (Thor), Anthony Hopkins (Audrey Rose), Christopher Eccleston (Doctor Who), Jaimie Alexander (The Last Stand), Zachary Levi (Tangled), Ray Stevenson (The Book Of Eli), Tadanobu Asano (Ichi The Killer), Idris Elba (Prometheus), Rene Russo (Outbreak), Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje (Lost), Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls) & Stellan Skarsgard (Good Will Hunting).
Before I go on, let me say this, Marvel seems to be really getting the recipe right when it comes to making their super hero movies... I mean they just keep getting better and better! Originally I will admit that my favorite Marvel Super Hero movie series was, 'X-Men', and it still rates up there at number 2, but I do think at this point that it is safe to say that, 'The Avengers' are now there... And in the case of this review, 'Thor'!

The reasons individually numerous... The story is phenomenal! I mean this story tells of how after, 'The Avengers' win the battle of New York, Thor (Chris Hemsworth), takes Loki (Tom Hiddleston) in front of Odin, (Anthony Hopkins), who ends up sentencing him to live out his life in an Asgardian Prison cell...
Little do the Asgardians know though, they are about to be confronted with an old enemy that may be the worst that they have confronted when during an alignment of the, '9 Realms' is soon to occur, and a an ancient danger is about to occur!
You see during this time, back on Earth, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who is now trying to get her life back on track after not having seen Thor in a few years accidentally stumbles through a portal and ends up encountering an old and immense power called, 'the Aether' that ends up assimilating itself in to her...
During this time, Heimdal (Idris Elba), the guardian of Asgard can no longer see Jane Foster, and so Thor goes after her to rescue her, but during this time, besides rescuing Jane, the remnants of, 'Dark Elves' (an ancient race that was thought to be destroyed by Asgard many centuries ago) awakens...

Beside the fact that they want to finish what they started, the, 'Dark Elves' also want to destroy Asgard, and so it will be up to Thor, Loki, Jane Foster and their friends both on Earth and on Asgard to stop this threat, before they destroy everything!
A great story eh? It gets better, like all the Marvel super hero movies, this movie has some truly awesome special effects (and believe it or not, they generally tend not to destroy their FX work with to much CGI... But not in this case! The CGI complimented this movie real nicely!)
And last but not least, you can tell that the melding of talent in this movie, having worked on a couple of films together, have melded in to a good working team, and have made the movie both fun, and really did a fantastic job at the roles they play in this movie!
In the end folks, this movie is a truly an awesome fun time! A rare in my opinion blending of Special Effects, Story, Talent, and Directing that really made things exciting! Lets put it this way, I rarely pay 20 dollars to see a movie... But this movie was worth every penny!
