The Many Faces Of Jason Voorhees On The Big Screen

Over the years, Horror has produced a lot of truly awesome scum and villainy that when destroyed really makes you feel good that good triumphed over evil! A couple of examples of course being:

1. Dracula.

2. Frankenstein.

3. Mr Hyde.

And that is just to name a few... But you know what? The ones that I mentioned above happen to be villains that got their start in literature... And I will get in to that in another article, but in this case I wanted to talk about Hollywood, and how in the 1980s, Hollywood really honed their craft when it came to creating slasher movies, and thus created their own historic villains... And the one that I wanted to talk about today is: Jason Voorhees from the Friday The 13th series and the transformations that he has made through out the generations of the movies!

Now the first one that I wanted to mention here is, 'Jason' as a kid in, Friday The 13th (1980) which had Ari Lehman (Thanxgiving) as Jason Voorhees when he is a kid in flash backs... (This would be the focal point of the rage for the killer in this movie.)

Friday The 13th Part 2 (1981) would see Jason go from being the focal point of the rage that the killer felt in the first one, to actually being the killer, and would see Warrington Gillette (Time Walker) take over the role of, 'Jason':

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Hey after years of isolation and being in the lake, you try looking your best![/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="460"] Jason (Warrington Gillette) as he is taking over the job of keeping, 'Crystal Lake' a bloody killing field![/caption]

Now for the 3rd one we get to see Jason really become the Hockey mask wearing lunatic that we all know and love, and for Friday The 13th Part 3 3D (1982) we would see Richard Brooker (Deathstalker) taking over the role of, 'Jason':

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="581"] Jason still wants to play![/caption]

[caption id="attachment_1824" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Is it just me, or does he have something on his head? Is it just me, or does he have something on his head?[/caption]

And next we have a personal favorite of mine, Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), this movie which would see Ted White (Starman) taking over the role of the maniac with a machete, 'Jason Voorhees' as he wakes from the dead and decides to go after a group of vacationers and the family that lives next door to them!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="463"] Keep the mask on dude![/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="576"] Well at least he has the mask on![/caption]

Well we are going to skip on to what I personally believe is the best of the, 'Friday The 13th' movies, (Part 5 doesn't actually have the real, 'Jason Voorhees' as the killer), and head on to, Jason Lives: Friday The 13th Part 6 (1986) and C.J. Graham (Highway To Hell) who would take over the role of the real, 'Jason Voorhees':

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="560"] Well the good news is that after a couple of year dirt nap, Jason (C.J. Graham) just needs to clean up and then it is time to go to work![/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="492"] Time to get to work![/caption]

This next one was made during a time when psychic connections seem to be all the rage in slasher movies, and for this it comes wrapped up in a nice neat little package called: Friday The 13th Part 7: The New Blood (1988):, and which would introduce probably the most popular and most recognized of all the actors to play the role of, 'Jason Voorhees', Kane Hodder (Monster) taking over the role for the first time:

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="652"] Believe it or not, this face really is only one that a mother can love![/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="536"] With, 'Jason Voorhees' as a guest, this will be a party that literally, 'no one' will ever forget![/caption]

This one is a little bit unfortunate, you see, Friday The 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan (1989) would be the last time that we would see Jason working under the, 'Paramount' banner, and would transfer over to, 'New Line'!

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="615"] Jason appears to be down for one last party before the big move![/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="750"] It looks like after many years, that Jason Voorhees has shown his face at this party for the last time![/caption]

Jason Goes To Hell: The Final Friday (1993)... The first, 'Friday The 13th' movie under the, 'New Line' banner:

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="726"] Jason, your boss really wants to see you right now... He sounds pissed![/caption]

Jason X (2001):

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="512"] Jason's got new hunting grounds...[/caption]

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="600"] Jason 2.0... The top of the line in next generation psychopath![/caption]

This next one would be the last time we would see the original, 'Jason' that we have all grown up with, and this would be the first time that Jason would be played by some one besides, 'Kane Hodder' for a long time, this time Jason would be played by: Ken Kirzinger (Joyride 3) in, Freddy Vs. jason (2003):

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="320"] Jason as a kid (Played by: Spencer Stump).[/caption]

[caption id="attachment_1835" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Ouch! That's gotta hurt! Ouch! That's gotta hurt![/caption]

And the last one to date (hopefully not the last one in generally) we have, Derek Mears (Predators) as, 'Jason Voorhees' in the, 'Friday The 13th' remake:

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="524"] The new face that will haunt Crystal Lake![/caption]

Unfortunately that really is the last time we saw Jason Voorhees... Hopefully not forever!
