I would say that the pilot for this series was pretty funny, but in all truth, more so then being funny, the pilot episode kind of began to introduce the characters and the bizarre nature of the world that Philip J. Fry (Billy West) has gotten himself stuck in!
Episode 2 (The series has landed) I personally think is when this series really started to get funny, with its parodying of, 'Disneyland' and, 'Disney World' and how they are known as, 'The Happiest Places On Earth'... Or in the case of, 'Luna Park' as, 'The Happiest Place Orbiting Earth'!
In this episode everyone is starting to get comfortable in their roles in, 'Planet Express'... And their first out of this world delivery is about to occur with a package of stuffed animals that they are to deliver for the crane device game!

And of course Fry is just ecstatic about this (being that he is from the 20th century he can only imagine about how truly awesome it would be to go to the moon...)
Well in the 31st century, the moon, short of being a place for country folk to live simple lives on their farms is also the location of, 'Luna Park'...
So when the newly promoted Captain Leela (Katey Sagal) takes them up to the moon, little does she know that her first day on the job (the one day she doesn't want anything to go wrong), that with this kooky and crazy group that in the end they would all go on the adventure of a life time! Including Bender being chased down by a crazy human farmer for trying to get with one of his three, 'beautiful' robot daughters!

Or the fact that Amy looses the ships keys... Or heck learning about Bender and his penchant for singing folk songs when a magnet is put on or near his head!
Another thing that I thought that I would mention here is that if you have been watching this series for awhile, then pay close attention to the Professor and Bender in these early episodes and then try and watch one of the later episodes... I think you will find a few things of interest between season 1 Bender and The Professor, vs. later seasons Bender and The Professor!
In the end though, this episode really gets things started off real nicely, and if you give it a try, I think you might find the same thing as well!
