Being a horror fan, a lot of people assume that you are just in to the blood and guts that generally seems to be a predominant theme with in the world of Video Games, Movies and TV Shows... And you know what? I think that is an unfair double standard to assume that, because I am a horror fan that my soul interest with in the genre is the blood and gut side!
There is another side to what can by defined as uniquely horror, and that is still quite fascinating, and that is the religious side of horror... That's right, I said religious side!
In truth in some cases even in the religious side of horror could also loosely be defined by the blood and gut factor as well (such as the, 'Hellraiser' series, which is a story about the various people who through the centuries end up finding a toy box that opens the gates to hell!)
But in the case of, Paradise Lost (1674) I am talking about the war between heaven and hell and the like, as well as the fall from grace of the Angel that would come to define the absolute definition of pure evil... That of Satan!

Now in all truth, this book is actual an extremely long poem that was written in blank verse, and is an epic poem that goes through the various stories of the fall of Satan and his minions in to hell, as well as the rise of man with Adam and Eve in the garden, as well as the biblical expulsion out of the Garden of Eden and the war between heaven and hell!
The truth is, is that there are some books that are better interpreted by others for various reasons, and then I do believe that as years turn to decades and decades in to centuries, that books become harder and harder to get through as the styles in which they wrote these works become more and more archaic, and less and less people begin to read these types of novels (at this point I think it is pretty safe to say that those books become more and more the realm of scholars and less and less the realm of the modern reader...
The reason I mention this, is because in all truth, this novel had a great story, but being that I was not well versed in reading poetry, I found this book to be a particularly rough book to read... And being that I am a fan of reading, and have read some truly tough books in my day and have really enjoyed them, unless you have the patience to sit through this one, I don't recommend it, it is a hard one, but if you do, then by all means, it maybe hard, but if you can get through it, I think you will find it to be a fascinating read... I did!
